LS 2wd

LS 2wd
recently ive had this need to go fast. just finished my 3.4 swap in my ext cab. love that power but i want more.
im looking at a few 2wd pickups want a 2nd gen single cab. and of course i want a v8 in it and a 6 speed in it because you cant go wrong with that combo. im no chevy guy but a lq or ls is probably the best option for power and reliablitly. (and good mpg) i want this truck to be dd thats fun to drive around.
anyone have any other motor suggestions. that are comparable to the LS seriers? a 2jz swap would be awesome and id love to keep it all toyota but i dont think i could make the same power for anyway near the price.
im in the process of finding the truck now. i have an engine possibly lined up in the near future. if anyone in the seattle area knows of a cleanish 2wd let me know!
any input would be great

the beauty of the the LS swap is that the 4.8/5.3/5.7/6.0/6.3 all share the same external dimensions, so once one is swapped it's EASY to swap in another.
Also all iterations are ridiculously easy to get HP from. Dump the truck intake manifold for a LS6 intake manifold and hello 30hp! Add headers and wola another 20hp! Add a UDP and hello 10hp! Throw in a LS6 cam on either the 4.8 or 5.3 (genIII not IV) and say hello to tons of hp up in the power band.

Almost wish I would have gone with a 5.3 in my truck, instead of the 3.4. Probably could have done it for around the same price. I'm having a really hard time finding the right truck for the project. I want something without dents. Pretty hard to come by now a days.
As for the motor I think I'm going lm7 (5.3) throw a cam and some headers and call it good. Unless I feel the need for more power ... Which I most likely will

You can also de-stroke the LM7 with some 4.8L guts. This combined with good valve springs and some ARP rod bolts (recenter the rods of course) will make it a rev-happy mofo and you can use nearly all of that sweet 9k rpm Toyota tach!!
