thanks i am just going to make my own based on the NWOR design
but due to rain and i went to glamis for the weekend i haven't had a chance to start the mounts yet but i do have the basic design all drawn up
i have to have them built by the end of the weekend though because im moving to vegas next week and want the motor at least sitting in the runner for the ride up

motor is sitting in runner and moved into a new work place in vegas
between moving out here and starting my new job tomorrow i haven't had time to make the mounts but once i get my new work schedule then i will be pulling the motor again steam cleaning the entire engine compartment and then cutting all my ifs stuff off
i decided i might as well sas while im at it haha
but the sas will free up some room as i will be sliding both engine and tranny back about two to three inches from the stock tranny location ( making room for radiator)

Cool Fellow 5.0er

Congrats on the swap. If all goes well, you'll be very happy with the extra power. I've been reading all of these messages from people and I haven't seen any mention of smog related topics. I would hope you plan to drive it on the street. It's been a few years since I did my swap but I'm still tweaking and changing things. If you got any questions I would be glad to offer what ever info I could.

'85 extra cab, '89 5.0, smog legal, C4 a/t, stock transfer case, stock axles.

Cool 5.0 swap

I seem to have trouble finding the time to reply also. Sorry. Well
any, yes my Toy is smog legal. It has the stock F.I. and has been to
the refferee. I had the stock headers on when it was ref. So you
may want to consider using them initially. Right now I'm running
Hedman's. I believe there for a Comet or Maverick. It's hard to
remember all the little details when the conversion was years ago. As
for your motor mounts, I had originally used the Advanced Adapters
mounts but they got squished and transfered alot of vibration. Even
with the updated rubbers. So I went with Chevy mounts. ( on a Ford,
bad ) Yeah I know but they work great. And they're fairly easy to
make. Just build some pads for them to sit on and use some thick (1/4)
angle iron to attach them. Any questions let me know. 85fordyota.

I've thought about this swap. I could get a 5.0 longblock for a couple hundred bucks, gt40p heads, cam for cheap. I think I would go carb for pure simplicity at first then go efi. Main issues I'm concerned with are engine mounts and headers. Are there any headers that fit without modification?

theres no worries about engine mounts and headers...stock manifolds will work, or they sell shortie headers for this swap at advance adapters or NW offroad as well as engine mounts, they also sell tranny mounts to move your stock tranny back a few inches if need be...pretty much bolt in...but you have to remember about the wireing too

Well being carbed wiring wouldn't be a very big deal. I'd just get some aftermarket gauges as the stock gauges are not accurate at all. I'd have to jump up to 38s-40s though, 36s and 5.13s would be crazy with a 300-350 hp motor, not to mention horrible mileage. Lol. The long term goal would be to go mass air.

Yea the stock manifolds are tight but they work as for mounts im going to biuld a weld in adapter and use the stock ford mounts. Progress has been non existant the past fewweeks due to lack of time.

Tribaltalon it sounds like you got the basic idea but really the biggest problem is cooling due to lack of space for a large radiator I say just jump in and do it
