Auterra Version 5.0 released

Auterra has released version 5.0 of their OBD-II software for the Palm. This new version supports vehicles with CAN (a new communications protocol):

They have also lowered the price to $239, though you can get better pricing on eBay:

It's a nice box folks.. a couple of us here have it (Hi Jamie!)

fwiw...

I've had a bit of a chat with Auterra's dev group. There are NO new features in this version. The changes were purely to support the CAN protocol.

Kinda' sad actually... But they say that a number of ideas I've been talking to them about for the last 8 months are "still on the todo list" so there's hope!

Oh... They're also working on a Windows version of the application. That should be interesting.

mark and jamie,

based on your endorsements, i bought one several weeks ago. i just got it in time b/f my move. since then, i've run it on my 4runner, my friend's 97 4runner and my other friend's 2003 murano. so far, no problems on any of the vehicles.

i havent had time to dabble w/ all the cool little features yet

! YAY!

Don't get us wrong Bob, I think that it's clear to the forum that Jamie and I are pretty into this box. But, I have maye 3 "niggles" that I'd like to see dealt with, and then there are some new features I'd like to see added.

I'm sure Jamie has similar feelings.

It's a pretty neat device, and Jamie's smiling as he reads this 'cause I gave him flack about it when he first brought it up.

It's pricey than some other options, that's for sure, but it also alllows me to easily carry a cool OBD II reader/tuning tool/dyno tool everywhere with me. On a run a few weeks ago, I read & cleared 3 other people's CEL's and may have sold one of these in the process.

Enjoy!
