5.0 swap 1995 4runner?!
**previously put in different section and wrong section of forum**
Alright, so I have been trying to plan what engine I am going to use to do my swap. I have a 1995 4runner with the 3slug that currently is acting up I have been researching into 1 and 2j swaps and the 7m swaps as well and then it dawned on me that I have a 1987 5.0 fully dressed engine at my disposal with the trans that comes with it. So the question is (seeing it can actually fit in the car) is it possible to swap a 5.0 into a 4runner? so far I've only read of older tacos doing it and I know I would defiantly need some type of custom stuff and for sure a custom wiring harness. Personally, in the end I think it would be worth it. But how the samhell do I do it???? Does anyone have any type of info on this?

Like anything else the fewer people do the swap the less information is to be had!!
You pretty much have two major areas the mechanical which I am sure you know means getting the engine in and power to the wheels.
A custom exhaust is a given..
A custom driveline does the Ford case have the front driveshaft on the same side??
perhaps you plan to have a custom adapter made so you can run the Toyota Trans and transfer case.
If you plan to run the Ford engine management system you need to merge the 4Runner cab harness into the Ford ECM
If you have to ask how to even start this I really gotta wonder.
With the amount of 3.4 swap information I researched over a year before buying anything.
I wish you the best of luck If you need to outsource the Fabrication and machine work it will get real expensive.

I was just thinking of that...it's out of a foxbody mustang so i wonder if i can even run 4wd?? I'm gonna use the trans that the engine came with do I'll need a custom cross member...I'm at a loss oj how to even start beside pull the engine I have now? It'd be sick if I can figure it out...not many fordrunners right?:p

Or if you want to use the T-5 trans you need an adapter from Advanced Adapters to adapt the T-5 to the Toyota t-case, I believe the stock crossmember will still work with this setup. I'm not sure if Advanced Adapters still makes an adapter for this swap.
nvwiggins is in the process of doing this swap with using the T-5 tranny. Heres a link to his build: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f198...t4r-ho-282583/
There's a lot more to the swap than this, I just thought I'd give you a place to start. I would definately do a lot of research first before commiting to it. Good luck!

Ford 302 swap in 94 4runner
I just purchased a 1994 4runner and Im going to do the ford 302 swap. Ive heard a lot of “promising” things on this build haha, but I am determined to make it happen and do it well! The old motor is a 4wd SR5 3.0 v6 and the manual tranny that is from is it supposedly still good, but I also have a new one for the 302, not sure which route is best with the tranny. I would like to avoid cutting firewall and core support as much as possible. Also keep the old gauges working. The new engine is carbureted and I would like to avoid as much electrical as I can, but id like to keep the AC if I can. I understand the price of all this and the struggle of all this and I love it... cant wait! I want to be driving this thing down the road in the near future! I need major help! ANYTHING HELPS! Please educate me! “rustED” or “nvwiggins” I know one of y’all will see one of these! Well hopefully!
THANK YOU!
