I believe they say that (I may be wrong) because the over-engineered German motor mounts had shock absorbers integrated into them, which helped make them the luxury car they were back in the day. I bet they're still smooth, but I would also very much like to know how they perform. It'd be nice if you can use the stock Toy mounts (assuming that's what you are using). That's one of the very few items I haven't made yet for the swap, waiting to see where the engine sits in relation to the hood. Can you share with us what body lift you have, and if you left the tranny in its stock location?
Thank you
Thank you
I am using the toyota motor mount bushings flat on the frame and the motor idles smooth and not much vibration.

I read on another forum that the merc mounts grafted to the yota frame rip apart during some wheeling in low. So if you, and I know you aren't, using those mounts you'd want to chain them down to keep them from separating. But that's what I read, I don't have any experience.

Is there enough room to run the exhaust over the crossmember? I'm guessing no, is the e-brake in the way? I will need to to something similar when I swap to the 1kd-ftv.
Thanks

No mine is all pipe and its really not loud at all in the cab with the windows up. Down on the other hand its pretty noisy. There isn't enough room to get the exhaust over the crossmember.

The pipe actually runs way over the starter. It goes down next to the firewall. I finally got a little free time so I'll grab some good pictures soon for you. Here you can sort of see how the dp is routed.
Honestly I stewed about the exhaust for the whole build. I took it to a local muffler shop here in town and told him sort of what I wanted. He really exceeded my expectations. and It only cost me $150. I will have to look more closely at the X-member in the morning as It might clear on your truck. I had to move mine back and the frame is a different width where I moved it.
I didn't re locate any hoses that I can think of. Its pretty much the way it came out of the car. Being that you have the adapter it should be a decently straight forward swap. The motor mounts are a PITA just because of where they are. Did you order a flywheel too?

wow 150 for an exhaust? where are you located here in ny theyd charge a few hundred to do that. i am going to be welding up the exhaust myself, i am thinking of getting fancy and using stainless with wiggens clamps and tigging the whole lot. in terms of the adapter i got everything 4x4labs offers, plate flywheel, and bushing. you have any plans for veggie oil? i removed the spare tire and that big empty space seems like a nice place for another fuel tank. speaking of fuel tanks, how did you prep yours and what kind of pump are you using?
also, any thoughts on intercooling? i know space is at a premium , i have been trying to dream up some plumbing.

I live in central MO. He is a really great guy and known as the local go to guy for exhaust. I don't think I am going to run veggie. I am strongly considering WMO though as we have plenty around here with all the vehicles. 50/50 seems to be a pretty fair mix. As for the tank, I took out the stock fuel pump and replaced it with a rubber line. Its kind of a pain to do and if you live where rust is prevalent I would plan to replace that whole bracket as mine crumbled when I went to take it out. Its a dealer only part and is about $150. I am planning to intercool it later on. I will be using a water to air unit as I think I could put it where the battery is now and move the battery to the left fender well. That shouldn't be too hard to plumb. In my truck to would be impossible to run a air to air up front without bumper modifications. Good luck with your swap. I'm subscribed and if you run into anything that I can help with ask away!

well initially it was the only kit i was aware of, and although i think i could have made my own, finding the time to do it right was evading me. now that i have the adapter it has kind of jump started the project for me. i dont know much about the other kits that are now available, i do know that the rest of the fabrication(mounts, brackets and such) are far less critical in terms of failure than the adapter alignment. now that the motor has had a bath i dont mind wrenching on it as much.. haha
