Looks fantastic!! I am subbed.
I pick up my 85 300sd this weekend. I plan on using the adapter as well, knowing that it takes some cred away, but like you said, it is a vital place to screw up, and it frees up a ton of time.
I was thinking of the steering lines as well, and from the comment left by riddarunner, I can't determine if the pressure is just too much for the lines to hold. I guess we will find out after the install to see what happens...
Anyways, Glad I stumbled upton this thread. Very insightful. Especially with the exhaust pictures. (Thanks PowerStrokeJoe)

If you have any questions about the swap feel free to give me a shout! I'm looking forward to hearing about yours. As for the steering lines. I had my pressure line made at a local shop and made the ends by silver soldering the Toyota and Merc ends in their respective spots. I'd post a picture here, but photobucket has me locked out at the moment for no reason. You can see what I am talking about in the last page of my thread there are a few pics of the power steering pump.

I was looking over your build on and all I can say is INCREDIBLE. Turned out super clean. I already know that my swap is going to be way dirtier than that one, but what I would like is to have the trottle response I saw in one of the videos you posted. I know that it probably didn't have the flywheel attached, but the trottle response was way better than any of the other videos I have seen. Speaking for myself I would like to know what you did to get such great response.

I am in the middle of the same swap here.

Could you snap a few extra pictures of how you did your motor mounts?

Flywheel and crank adapter are on their way from 4x4labs, and adapter plate is in process for me...

Thanks!

i'm curious. do you need to notch the oil pan on IFS vehicles? I think you do but I just want to be positive. and just so everyone knows tdswaps.com also makes a very nice adapter kit.

Ok, so i pretty much fell off a cliff with this project, just haven't had any time for it. I am however trying to scam some time here and there to continue. I have a couple questions ...

Before i drop the motor in for fit and to fab the engine mounts i am thinking i need to relocate a bunch of item... this picture shows where my exhaust needs to go.

looking at that it seems i might have to relocate the clutch lines brake lines and fuel lines... The fuel lines i may replace with lines designed for bio diesel.

your fuel lines to go to the othe side of the motor, you can route your clutch however you need to clear you exhaust, but keep the flex/rubber hose, these motors shake a lot, your brake lines should be ok, you can also wrap your exhaust down pipe with some insulating wrap which should be done to keep heat off the starter. are you going to relocate your trans? I moved mine back as far as I could to gain clearance in front of the motor.

relocate the transmission? no i dont think so. i was just looking to see if anyone else had relocated any of this stuff. i'll maybe make a heat sheild if i keep the brake lines there.

did u send the fuel lines up the other side then?

Are there issues with fitting the engine accessories in the stock mercedes locations? Seems like people relocate the alternator and powersteering and AC, is this due to clearance or are people doing this to have the componants where they are in the toyota?

just wondering if i can keep things where they are and drop the engine in or if i need to work on relocating things first....

The A/C compressor will not clear the steering gear box in the factory location. It will have to be relocated. I am working on getting mine to fit.

You should be good to go then. I am running my alternator in the Mercedes Bracket and the Benz P/S pump. It works great.
