Emailed about 12-15 Salvage/Dismantlers around the globe.

Have a friend in Perth Australia, didn't realize it till i spoke with another friend last night(we used to work for the same company years ago.

This search is making me crazy, i just want to order a damn engine already...argh!

Dangit, I had a feeling this would happen(especially after reading this thread regularly)... I was going to see if you'd called/written anyone in Japan?

Jdm diesels are difficult to come by due to strict Japan emissions. The reason most folks want to use a hem engine is two fold. One very low miles(some speculate japan cars do not get scheduled maintenance since the engine lifespan is short). The second is the availability of engines with greater hp because of the differing regulations.

The two importers I spoke with that had any promise had just gotten back from Japan and wouldn't be returning for another 45-60 days. I want it now! Well ordered atleast so I can proceed.

So are you just sitting on your hands with no rig until you get the new engine or did you put the 3.0 back together?

Sitting on my hands?? Yep feels like it, although I have thought about slapping it back together. The problem is, I'll be driving a time bomb, always wondering when it's going to grenade. With that in mind, I simply won't drive it, cuz it will happen miles from home or wheelin I'm sure.

Aren't these used in the States though in Bread trucks or is that the other Toyota 4cyl diesels?

They are found in some hino dynas, we don't see many here. Hino is here but the majority of those trucks are using a 'w' series diesel.

Wow, sorry you have to wait, man.... But sounds like "promise" being slipped in your comment is "promising", lol... Right? Probably take you a couple months to get the rest of it together anyhow, right?

AWESOME to hear it's gonna happen, sooner or later, RB!

some light reading and references

water separator:
http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...The-Full-Story

Issues and discussion about 1KD-FTV with mechanics, discuss euro4 and 07' engines emissions:
http://www.toymods.org.au/forums/tec...ts-pieces.html

1KD stuffed into an LN130 chassis from above thread:
snip...
I have done the conversion 1KD into a 1KZ vehicle and prob wouldnt do it again . The 1KD is a great engine in my eyes , i service many of them and only 1 has had new injectors at 130000 klm ,awsome torque and ecconmy too .
My problem in my conversion is i used the euro 4 engine which is far too smart in regards to the electronics ,the mods away from stock are a 2.5 straight thru exhaust with no cat , front mount as the top mount is too tall and i had to re plumb all the EGR minus the cooler stuff to stop any fault codes .
The result is it runs perfect however , 1/ around town fuel is like 17 lt per hunderd driving like a old man and 2/ flat throttle overtaking on the highway it cuts power ( i suspect boost cut )
The annoying part of all this is bit by bit i have to return it to stock to try to work out my troubles .
Maybe no cat creates not enough back pressure which makes it boost higher .
Maybe all the extra intercooler piping is causing the trouble .
When the Euro 5 standards come out i dont think any of us can play with our toys anymore .

The real downside is cost. It will take me about 4years for this swap to pay for itself. <<< that is the only reason I would back out. But I'm not really doing this because I have to double my mpg, or swap in a lump that is superior in every way over our gassers available in NA. No sir, I want to do it because I like a challenge, to learn(even if it's the hard way) and because I want more information about these engines available to us.

With that said most of the mods we do aren't really necessity, but part of an addiction to make our rigs 'ours'. I always look at this sort of thing like a vacation, you stay home a relax, not spending a dime. But we all drop a little coin to go somewhere we've never been, just for the experience.
