Neetch, take a look at this link, instead of using a toggle switch to manually control the fans, use this setup. Us camaro guys have been using this for our taurus fan setups, but it will work with any fan really to make it come on at a pre determined temp automatically. Uses a volvo fan controller and a temp sensor out of a BMW (for dual speed fans, you don't have to use that specific sender for single speeds)

Hope that helps man, i'd like to do a diesel swap one of these days.

Oh i also meant to ask you, how does the power of the 616 compare to the 3vze? Does the truck feel slower?

jb451 thank you for your input.
om616 feels slow and lazy, i am thinking about turboing it with stock om617 setup but still not sure.

i have lifted body a bit so i have more room for grinding, on the photo you can see that rear part is already test painted with chassis protection and thats how the rest of it will look like too. also 2" body lift is ordered

set of wheel spacers my friend had laying in his garage for years, what are the odds haha still cant believe it

Dang, i was really hoping the 616 would feel the same as the 3vze, i really did not want to have to stuff the 617 in there but i guess i will.

it would probably feel a lot better if i had manual tranny, on my a340h torque converter is built for 3vze higher revs.

all i can say is that OM616 with A340H stock torque converter is a REALLY weak combination, i canīt go over 90km/h downhills and uphill is struggle to achieve 50km/h.... i am searching for r150f tranny because i want to do the auto-to-manual swap... stay tuned

Oh wow, wish I would've seen this one sooner.... and I would've told you STAY AWAY from the OM616. The internals on it aren't built to handle turbo boost, IIRC. My OM617 is a gutless turd with boost and fuel turned up, so I can't imagine how gutless an OM616 would be. The block bolt pattern should be the same, so you should be able to just drop an OM617 in. Just google turbo OM616. I'm pretty sure it's got weaker internals and possibly a different injection pump and injectors. Not sure, but there's tons of reading on it.

It looks like you have 33's. I had 33's with 4.88's and still couldn't hardly push 80mph if it was windy, but I did see 18mpg in town and 23mpg highway. I guess the manual is nice since it let's you get into the power band over 2600 RPM. My power curve is nice and flat from 2600-4000 RPM.
