Are you content with your 1UZ swaps...still?

I have done TONS of research on the 1UZ and was completely sold on the motor and I have found a donor vehicle for the swap. It is an early 1UZ motor, so it will have the stronger connecting rods.

Anyways, are those of you that have done the 1UZ and have driven it around quite a bit still happy with the swap? Have you been left with the feeling that you wish you had more power?

I know a couple of you out there have SC'd it and I don't plan on doing that with my swap until possibly way down the road, so hearing about the NA swaps (and still NA) is what I'm mostly interested in. I use my truck for all around. It tows a little, gets driven on highways, off road, crawling etc... It is an all around 4runner.

The motor is awesome. I do wish I had a bit better in town mileage with the setup I have. 1uz from an LS400 with R150F and 4:88 diffs.

Yeah, I would expect it to probably get around 13 in town. You should get some 37's!!! ha ha. I hope to have mine implanted within a couple months. I've just been researching and ordering parts and working a little here and there while I wait. It takes a while to even get all the necessary parts and do all the research etc... That's been a HUGE time consumer for me. I've spend way less time actually working on the truck. The donor rig is pretty much all prepped. I'm working on some of the wiring diagrams now. So far, that seems to be pretty easy with how I'm doing it. Transplanting lexus harness components in the yota.

Yeah I get about 12 in town. Highway has been nice at around 19. I have a rear 3rd with 4:56 gears. Thinkin about going to those to see how they do and what the mpgs are with different gears. I don't want to go any bigger on tires.

Other items I plan on trying us to run the ls manifolds. They are quite a lot bigger then the tundra pipes. I plan on pulling the SC injectors I have with the spare engine I bought. We will see how much more pony I get from those.

I think I spent about 3/4 of all the time I spent just researching. Things go so much smoother with good planning and experience. I would be much quicker with the next swap.

I've got some numbers for you. In case you didn't already know:

New setup
------------
R150 5th: .838
Rear 4.56
Tire Diameter: 34.6
Speed: 60
Engine RPMs: 2227

Your current setup
----------------------
R150 5th: .838
Rear 4.88
Tire Diameter: 34.6
Speed: 60
Engine RPMs: 2383

http://www.csgnetwork.com/multirpmcalc.html

My current setup is:
-----------------------
R150 5th: .838
Rear 5.29
Tire Diameter: 37
Speed: 60
Engine RPMs: 2415

I don't have it running, but I have 37's on the truck and 5.29 gears. The engine will not like this setup.

A341E Lexus Stock (89-94 Lexus LS400 Transmission) Setup
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Diff Gear: 3.62
4th Gear: .705
Tire Size/Height: 205/65R15 25.5" (actual OD from TireRack on Tire): Bridgestone*Potenza RE960AS Pole Position
@ 60 RPMS 2018

As you can see, we have overshot this by a tremendous amount. There is a 5th gear from an R452 transmission (hino/dyna tranny from over seas) that will swap right in to the transmission and make the 5th gear ratio approximately .69. See the below information:

With R452 Overdrive gear installed in R150 tranny
--------------------------------------------------------
Diff: 5.29
Tires: 37
5th final: .69
@60 mph 1989 rpms

I would go this option if I could find one. That has been about a least successful as one can be so far. If anyone has a way to snag one of these then please let me know!!! It would be by far the easiest and cheapest solution to make this damn thing economical on the highway. Running as it is suppose to.
