Nope...never been done...no one has ever stuffed a Lexus V8 into a '91 4Runner.

Oye, try searching on here under other swaps or even try

Search and ye will find.

Now, if you have the ability to fab, plus the tools and space to do it, you should be okay. But if you want more power with a lot less headache, try the 3.4 5VZFE swap. Way, way, way easier.

My plan is to drop a 1uz Lexus V8 into my 4Runner. My original plans were to go witht the Tundra V8, but doing my research and the 1uz is so overly built and reliable, makes decent Hp, and can be modded for a turbo, nitro, or any other after market mod you may want to do for more Hp. The tundra 2uz is a heavy cast iron block, The 3uz is from the Lexus cars as well and also features the cast iron block. The 1uz is right around the same weight as your 3vz so you don't have to worry about extra weight. Now for mating of the transmissions in Australia and New Zeland they sell bell housing adapters to mate to your R150(?) transmission. Or you can use the original transmission and get the prerunner adapter from inchworm. Then there are the newer V8 engines from Lexus and Toyota. As for swaps information is hard to come by, but you could be a first. Another plus to the 1uz is that I just bought my 94 SC400 for $500 for the entire car and it runs. Now the general price for one on CL is from $1200-2000. Which makes a nice and cheap engine swap if you ask me. Hope this helps.

True, not a huge HP gain in numbers, but the seat of the pants difference is HUGE, and the 5vzfe is a MUCH MUCH more refined, smoother, better running, and more reliable engine than the 3vz.

But, as you can see in my sig, I do beleive bigger is better

Check out lexusextremes.com amd uzswap.com.
Not a big fan of uzswap.com, but lexusextremes is cool. They have been working on the site lately.

Just go ahead and do the lexus v8 already...

Whatever swap you choose to do , the best way to do it is to buy a complete donor car or truck ,will save you alot of money ,time and headaches .

I recently went with 1uz and for the little I have driven her , I am very happy with it.

Good luck man !!!

RMA has a great buildup thread I recommend checking out. I agree get the entire vehicle, I'm piecing together my 3.4 and wish I had the entire donor so I don't have to keep looking for all the little parts.

Cool

I can't believe that you don't have them mods much over there, in Australia the mod is quite common and it is becoming quite popular. perhaps you might like to have a look at some of the 4x4 forums in other countries and get your information from them. I started looking in the USA forums for a similar reason, I am putting a GM motor into my 85 4Runner, and I too am seeking information, and it has been a huge help to me. I have a 5.0ltr engine in my car now with the Toyota 5 speed manual and it has done me well for the last 3 years. I am now putting a 5.7ltr motor into it with a T700, and that is happening because I have joined a few forums from around the world, and it is an absolute goldmine if you look.
