94 4Runner engine swap

Hey everyone I have a 1994 $runner with the 3.0 engine and it has like no power when i get to higher speeds. I bought the truck with 150,000 on it and it has a ticking sound to it. I paid $1000 for it. I am thinking about swapping the engine for a 4.3 vortec. Is this a good engine to be putting into it. My buddy has the engine and it only has like 90,000 on it. Also what kind of modifications do i need to do and do i need to replace the tranny and what else would i have to change. i can do all my own conversion.

This is a common swap.
Check advanced adapters for the tranny adapters as you should not have to replace the tranny and you would have to change the motor mounts.
The 4.3 motor is worth doing the conversion and has way more power.

It would definitely be easier to just buy the adapters, but, if you know what your doing, I would try it.

3.0L D-4D in 90 4Runner ??? anyone

I would like to do a engine swap on my 1990 Toyota 4runner 4WD. I would like to put a 3.0L D-4D 1KD-FTV engine in my 1990 4Runner.
Does anyone know who has done this engine swap successfully?

Does anyone know if the 3.0L D-4D 1KD-FTV engine has a fuel pump in the fuel tank, or is it just a pick-up tube?

Do all 4WD models sold worldwide, have the transfer case on the right side?

If I use a manual trany from a 1990-1996 Hilux, Will this tranny bolt up to the newer 3.0L D-4D 1KD-FTV engine? If so, this would solve the speedometer cabal problem, and the drive shaft problem.

These are the problems I see, there are probably others I don't.

If anyone have any insight and knowledge to share I would really appreciate it.
