Wife crashed the 4Runner last night.

After all those hours of work, its a goner. Side swiped trees taking out the drivers side doors and door pillar. Mechanically perfect still but I dont know if the body can be fixed.

Pics to follow.

I dont know whether to part it out or find a body swap. I'm sure some of you here would love a ready done swapped 3.4 - all the hard work is done!

Finding a donor 2nd gen 4Runner should be easy and cheap.
Paid $250 for mine.
Sorry for your loss.

Trade for a rusty 2dr 2nd gen body? lol

Is it a street queen? Or a wheeling rig? That should be your deciding factor in whether or not to fix it/do a body swap.

Its a street queen - our winter vehicle. It did its job admirably - saved my wife, and our newer cars from being used during winter.
If I part it, I'd need at least $1000. I dont know what its worth as a whole car though. I have a zero $ budget to repair it right now. My heart says I want to fix the body or put another body on it because mechanically, its in amazing condition.

Hard to find a slightly rusty/rust free body for around $250 or less though.

Dont part it out. You took the time to 3.4 swap it, and have it mechanically sound. The best decision would be to keep it covered until you have the money to find a body for it.

That sucks ass.

I would body swap it.

My buddy rolled his runner and replaced the pillar and he is NOT a body guy. This was a trail only rig so he want super concerned with cosmetics but he got it to where the windshield fit and doesn't leak.

Drill a few holes, put eye bolts through it with a nut and washers on the back and pull it out with a com-a-long. You can hide the rest with bondo and some new doors. Then you will be and glad you didn't part it out.

I think you could get $1,000 for the swap and peripherals quite easily if you go that route though.

Anyone want to come to Michigan and help me fix it? I think I found a donor body that they will let me cut up for $50.

I just looked underneath and the damage is very minimal. Frame is perfect. The crush goes in about 3 - 4 inches at the most. It looks like most of the damage is located at the door jamb and just in front of the wheel on the arch. In fact, even the inner wheel well looks fairly uninjured.

ya know... except for that back panel damage. I would say the damage is very minimal.

Dude, perfect excuse to make it a wheeling rig. Take a sledge and hammer it out. Plexiglass windows if you really need them. And beat the piss out of it.

It has to be a street legal daily driver suitable for the wife to go to work and to take the kid to day care during winter months. Cant convert it to a wheeling rig.

I'm going to take the doors off tomorrow and assess the damage further.
