Can anyone explain what this vent is for? can it be removed? hits my new motor mounts. I can grind the mount to fit. it is on the passenger side, 3.4 out of a 03 tundra

 

That's a coolant drain spout that you can attach a hose to when draining the block (back out that brass plug to allow coolant to drain). Lots of guys have ground a notch into their motor mounts to clear that fitting.

For what it's worth, the block I'm using (from a '96 4Runner) doesn't have that fitting so I had no clearance issues; I just have that brass plug and a threaded hole where that fitting could have been installed.

I would imagine you could remove the fitting without issues unless, for whatever reason, you need to drain the coolant from the block after it's been dropped into your truck and don't want coolant running out everywhere.

 

Holy motor mount, that is nice craftsmanship. Your work? Yeah, just notch it out like everyone else has done.

 

No not my work got them from Chilkat design. i just modified them to become a semi solid motor mount

 

yeah nice tig welded mount must have removed a 4cyl 22re to have to make mounts like that.... that some race car work there! btw i just ground a spot for that to clear!

 

yea thats what im gonna do. the mount is for my desert truck
