Stiffener plate 3.0 - 3.4

Any idea if the passenger side stiffener plate requires the AC bracket to bolt up to the engine block? I can't seem to get the stiffener to line up with the engine block.

I am doing a 3.4 swap on my 94 4runner.

oh wow. I have not seen that before. I would think that would cause an issue with the power steering pump too? Doesn't the bold go through both?

nawwww, but that looks like you have an issue greater than my own. Are you using the correct bracket for the PS and AC? I am pretty sure you need to use the 3.4 engine block bracket. I am talking about the trans to engine block stiffeners, they give the combo more rigidity. There is two of them.

It definitly is a big issue...

its the bracket that came with the engine.. i just removed the pump because I didnt see it working out and just decided to go away with the a/c for now until I get more clarification.

As far as those stiffener plates, they must have been removed prior to me owning the truck, because I dont have them... Ill look on my 94 truck for them... hang on...

as far as I can tell the stiffener sits back about 4-5 inches from the a/c bracket... shouldnt be an issue for you.. I can post pictures if you like but since the blocks are identical and youre using the same tranny it shouldnt be a problem I would think.

on the last picture thats with the 3.4 in the 94 a/c bracket (somewhat) bolted on. Should leave you several holes and plenty of space for the stiffener...

ok so look at the 2 bolt holes on passenger side where stiffener mounts... if I saw it correctly the bracket bolts up to the rear of the bellhousing... from this last picture I posted the stiffener bolts to the 2 holes below the starter..? Or am I crazy...?

yup. I'll get it figured out. Not sure what the deal is yet. It was just odd to me that the one side didn't match up.. that's all.

ya...from the looks of it... on the 3.4 it bolts to the 2 holes below the starter facing outward toward the passenger tire. on the 3.0 the plates bolt behind the bellhousing.

so before you tighten one end of the bracket, get the bolts started on the other end. And the previous post is in accurate. THose two bolt holes are for the clutch slave cylinder. The stiffener brackets bolt to the tranny and 3.4 block the same as the 3.0. They are the same block essentially...

also they are two different pieces. Only one will go on either side. But the block as the right bolt holes for it. If you get the wrong side. It will be WAY off..
