quick wiring help!

Between work and the swap ive got about 3 hours and i sleep then. So i have a quick question before people say just search. Im swapping a 97 auto into a 93 auto. So im assuming i repin the plugs IH1 and IH2 from the 93 into the plugs II1 II2 II3 from the 97. Only using what i need though right?
Where do i connect the transmission wires from the 97 to the 93?

You could do that, or build a "conversion harness."

For a conversion harness, cut the engine harness side of IH1 and IH2 (from the 3.0) so that there's 6"+ of wire coming out of the connector. Then do the same to the dash harness side of the II1 and II3 (from the 3.4).

From there, solder the wires together as needed; that way you leave your truck's dash harness and the 3.4's engine harness unchanged. Any problems you encounter will be contained entirely within your conversion harness rather than from moving pins around incorrectly.

So if i understand this, ii1 and ii3 are the plugs i will be using for the ih1 and ih2? Then its just a matter of finding the function of each wire and matching the new ones to the old ones? Correct? What is ii2 for from the 97? I assume it will be useless to me.

I don't know what you're asking but typically there are 2 ways to do the conversion:

1. Replace the plugs (the actual plastic connectors) on the 3.0 dash harness or the 3.4 engine harness to match the other harness (which I think you're asking about).

2. Add an extra harness, called the conversion harness, that you make (or buy from ORS or TOS) that has the engine side connectors of IH1 and IH2 (to plug into your truck's unchanged dash harness) and the dash side connectors of II1, II2, and II3 (to plug into your unchanged 3.4 engine harness).

To make the harness, you will need to go through the various EWDs and match wire functions and solder (DO NOT CRIMP) the wires together.

II2 looks to be the connection to the 4WD ECU; if you have an II2 connector, your donor came from a 4Runner with a button (not a shift lever) to engage 4WD. You will need to look at the diagrams and figure out what needs to be connected.

I just re-pin the harness of the swap to match my truck. You'll need both wiring diagrams.
I ran new wires for oil sender, OBDII and speed signal.

I built a conversion harness for my swap. I did try to re-pin at first, but the pins did not fit in for me, they were different. I used a 95 T100 harness so yours may be different. I am using my original auto trans, so the ends (plugs) are different. I plan on just cutting off the old plugs off my 3.0L harness and adding them to the 3.4L harness. The wires for the trans come down the side (left) of the engine and include the two O2 sensor wires in the bunch. Easy to see.

Look at this thread, especially post #10 and the links to what he did.

If it helps to see more, my wiring notes are here: (1989 2wd auto to 1995 t100, 2wd auto)

Hope it helps!

Andrew.

I think I had to soldered some of them because the pins were different.....come to think of it. I used the engine from 95/96 T100 auto.

The easiest and fastest thing to do is build a "conversion harness"
