no spark?!
swapped a 99 taco 5vzfe into the 90 runner this summer. drove great til last monday when died suddenly on the highway. towed her home suspecting fuel pump trouble....
i have fuel to the rail, but i cant get any spark.
i tested for power to the igniter and coils no probs there. tried a new Circuit opening relay and a cam position sensor, still no love.
Also, I pulled out my computer to look for frayed connections and found it wet and poured water out of the casing...
some of the pins were corroded and blue so i cleaned all that up and dried it out over night. still no spark. i guess there must be a leak in my windshield or firewall for the water to get in there, a computer should be able to survive some moisture right?
anyone got any ideas?
i'm heading back to the garage with the service manual to test with the ohm meter now.

i didnt find any visible damage on the circuit board there was some blue corrosion on some of the pins though. i cleaned them up with electrical plug cleaner and a small scraper.
i wasnt getting proper resistance from the crank position sensor so i am about to replace that, lets hope that does it.

one thing that I did was siliconed the 2 bolt holes that held the stock 3.0 ecm in. Those go right out to the wheel well, and could potentially splash water right into the new ecm if you don't seal those holes up. just a thought? but no water is good on an electrical device. It can wreak havoc on them.. if you poured water out, then I would think that serious damage may have occurred.
