A year since I posted in this thread you mean.... Since I can't drive nor work Tippy has been on the back burner. And it'll probably be another year until we get her running. It's the way of the $$ And we already have 1 very capable runner "Ron" which is Troy's rig

Oh and since you asked, no we didn't get Tippy going, too much money for the wiring harness, plus her 2nd gen self is just too heavy. Thus the 1st gen cab swap. I still have the 3.4 that I will use and then the frame + below....

Tippy was leaving my house for the last time today to go up to the friends shop. BYE TIPPY!!! We start to take the cab off tomorrow!

Here is the Donor cab that will go on her frame and then we'll put the 3.4 in there...

Don't worry, the color will not be staying puke brown... I'm all about rattle can for touch up purposes...

This won't be a quick swap as Money is all tight now. But rather more about the labor right now.... Then we can salvage anything worth salvaging out of the old tippy body and scrap the rest...

Oh wait... different donor truck now! This one has a 22RE, and runs well for a 4banger. This allows us to transfer over all the armour and suspension and then when I have money worry about an engine upgrade later (3ZE!). The 3.4 is gone as I traded it for the donor truck and a few other things. Troy and I like not having to deal with the 3.4 wiring and crossover stuff right now. And since we could trade for what we needed right now all of this is not costing money!

And here is Tippy in 2 pieces!!!

And here's Troy trying to cut that bumper off. Still don't know why we didn't just frame swap it...

So troy thinks he'll have the Baby Tippy drive-able tomorrow. We still gotta figure out new shocks. (I guess the 4 I had on the old Tippy were all blown.) Go Figure... I mean we put that poor rig through so much for the cheapo Rancho chocks she had!

Sweet.

So what are you doing with the 3.4 stuff. Is that a future swap or staying with the 22

3.4 stufff has been traded for parts I needed to get this done. The 22re will do for now, but if/when I have money an upgrade to a 3ZE is ideal since it will not require the PITA wiring harness and crossover pipe etc, a 3.4 would have.

I kinda wish we had decided to do this 2 years ago!

More pics...

Still to do:
Both front shock hoops, aux tranny cooler, and armor to go.

I need to research if we can use my upgraded 3.0 alternator in the 22RE. That or I'll sell the upgraded alternator and have to upgrade the 22re one because no way am I doing the winch and PIAA's again without a better alternator! Thoughts anyone?

MMMM Some white hot lift action.....

New Shock hoop...

Troy and Eric debating the Shock mounts (too small)

God I hope that rear bumper will fix the rake issue, as the back is higher than the front!

Can't forget the obligatory Dirt Tan! (Red Brewer)

I spray painted all the sliders and bumpers, so I am looking forward to Saturday when we put them on!

So troy got metal in his eye on Sat and had to dot he ER sundaya nd the opthamologist Monday. It's healing up nicely but even with a normal face sheild he wasn;t protected enough....

I need to get Troy one of these:

"General Air Service and Supply has started carrying a goggle with face shield combo ($18) that I really like. When Sean saw it, he had me get him one, too. Best thing around and it looks like it ought to be about twice that expensive.

We didn't do the run. Troy had to go to the ER. And with how wet it was we decided that I risked hurting my ankle more (plus no front bumper and winch) I was glad we played it safe.

I want to start with something a little more mild, especially since I don't have an exo yet... Just being smart since funds are tight... The trails will always be there

Troy got one of those masks today... I am so glad he did!!! I'll try and get a nija pic of him sporting it....

So today I masked of the lower part of Tippy II and rattle canned it black so it will be super easy t touch up all the Armour. Plus Now Tippy is looking all twinsies with "Ron" (Troy's rig)

We still gotta weld the bumper on. We have to push it forward and brace it as it was too tight of a fit to weld it directly to the cross-member. So we'll use some thick square tubing and get the job done. Then I guess it's up to me to wire the PIAA's and switches as well as put the winch back on. :xcrazy:

That rear bumper is awesome! I love it!

Curious as to the two rear shocks both slanted back. What is the reasoning with that. I have only ever seems one back, one leaning towards the front (stock), or the / \ center mounted setup.
