Talking Just dropped off 94 4runner With Toy only Swap

On Thursday I payed Cliff and Justin at Toy Only Swap a visit and dropped off my 94 4runner to get a heart transplant with the 3.4 from a 2000 Tacoma. Can not wait to get the 4runner back in a couple of weeks. After several e-mails and a couple of calls it was great to meet the guys in person. very professional guys and had everything lined up. Their crossover looks great!

I have the cross over from them. It fits fine. The exhaust is on the noisy side though. There's no leak.

Talking The 3.4 Swap from Toy Only Swaps Rocks!

I picked up my 4Runner from Cliff and Justin at Toy Only Swaps on Friday and made the 500 mile drive to Nevada today. The swap was totally professional and very clean. All wires were armored/bundled and look like a factory job. I can not comment enough about how clean and professional the job turned out.

They completed the job in a very timely manner and the cost of the job is well worth having them do the swap.

I highly recommend Toy Only Swaps for their swap parts, but if you are near the West cost it is worth the drive to have them complete the swap.

For those thinking about doing the swap take the plunge the power difference is night and day. I am running 31/10.5/R15 aggressive tires with 4.30 gears and the 5 speed. No problems starting out in second gear now and I can pass with ease on the road. My 3.0 had 216K on it and the 3.4 is no comparison. I can not imagine dropping the supercharger on it. But time will tell

Talking dntsdad Questions

Straight off the Toy Only Swaps website

"Complete 3.4 conversions installed parts and labor start at $3500"

This will get you an awesome running 3.4 swap! I added a few extras before the new motor was dropped in.

All OEM Toyota Parts
Plugs and Wires
Timing belt
Water pump
Clutch kit
Radiator

Drop them an e-mail and they will give you a quote on what work you want done.

Their work is supper clean and they completed the job in the time frame promised. Actually sooner on my swap!

What did I provide?

A 1994 4Runner 5 Speed with a 3.slow 216k miles and it leaked oil like the Exon Valdez.

Toy Only Swaps

Sourced a low millage 2000 Tacoma 3.4 fully tested with a warrantee on the motor.
Built a swap harness
Built a new crossover
Installed and tested the new motor
Complete with all emissions in place including new style charcoal canister and both O2 sensors.
OBD2 plug installed as well

Cliff and Justin are great guys; they answered all my questions and keep me updated on the progress of the swap.

I had a 500 mile drive home without any issues. 100+ degree heat and a lot of mountain passes.

I have lurked on Yotatech and read every 3.4 swap thread I could find. I read through the problems and successes. Between work and family I did not have the time to dedicate to a swap.

Having Toy Only Swaps do the job for me worked out great. I would use them again in a second.

Great price!

Jason,

Yes that is the out the door price not including the extras I threw in, which did not add that much more to the project. I think they offer a very reasonable price and the work is top notch!

What a deal. I think I paid that much in parts.
I don't think , based on the pics, that it'll pass smog in CA. The intake needs the CARB sticker for one thing....

I'm working on converting folks to realize it's stupid to go through the exercise. When no one else is doing it, it's pointless. Just like when we don't want the pipe coming down from Canada, they'll just sell the oil to China and China will burn it up and wind will carry them to us anyway.
So far, I'm a sound of a tree falling in the forest.......

Because California is the land of symbolism over any substance. We ban 2 stroke motorcycles most of the year, but allow 2 stroke leaf blowers and the crap they spew up off the ground into the air. Can anyone logically argue that some motocross guys are doing more damage to the world's air than 10,000 blowers per day AND the particles they are driving into the air.

We demand special blends of gasoline that DECREASE fuel economy thus making MORE pollution.

We allow the "environmental conscience of the world" to use the Bay Area as a home to 10 million people when it can properly house half that..........if living according to the rules they wish for others. Oh well...........dont get me started.

Like I heard once.........I love the California that God built.........I hate the California that man has built.

/Rant off.........back to swap thread

$3500 and they dropped it in for you also? I just got a quote of $5000 from them. Did you have the old 3.0 removed before you brought it to them? Maybe that's the price difference.

There also a difference in auto vs manual. Manual swaps are a lot cheaper.

Swap options

There are a lot of variables in a 3.4 swap and it depends on what additional work you would like done while the motor is out. You would be crazy not to replace the clutch, timing belt and water pump before you put a new motor in your rig. I also chose to add a new radiator. All these items add parts and labor to the job. As stated on their web site the $3500 is the starting point. Also as vasinvictor pointed out an auto swap is by far more complicated and costly as well.

I highly recommend Toy Only Swaps!
They did a very professional install for my 4runner.

No Problems

White4Runner

I am glad to say I have not had a problem with my 4runner since the swap. The only issue I have is what the next addition to the 4runner will be and what I can afford. I think my wish list is endless, but the 3.4 was on of the best improvements so far.

Toy Only Swaps did a great job for me.
