Help with 5VZ block serial number

Hi -

I hoping someone can decipher a 5VZ block number, or point me somewhere for more help. I have searched but found no real info on figuring the serial out; I hear the VIN is under the rear timing plate but can't get to it.

I have located a 5spd 5VZ (flywheel still on it) that has been sitting in a shed for a while and the guy doesn't really remember what year it came out of (he thiks a 96 4Runner), and some of the parts may be from a different year or model. The reason I say this is the block has the dipstick hole, plugged, in the same location as the 3VZ, which I understand is how early model 5VZs were. But, the wiring harness, sitting unattached on top of the engine, has automatic style plugs (the four-deep rather than two-deep prongs). I understand that later 3.4s had the auto style as universal for autos and manuals, but then either this engine is a later model (which it could be as much of it is really clean) or the harness is an earlier auto harness and I would have to get a manual one. There is no ECU to match to anything.

Anyway, can anyone please tell me anything about this number: 0108567

Thanks! Joel
