Got a motor, need engine harness and ECU....
Hey guys, I hope I'm not breaking protocol here by requesting stuff but it seemed like I'd get the best response in this forum.
I picked up a 1996 4Runner 3.4, 5 speed, and t-case for $250 this weekend. However, it's missing the wiring harness and ECU. He rolled the 4Runner w/o insurance and was just parting it out to make a few bucks back. I pulled the plugs and ran a compression test and all was good across all six cylinders. He even threw in the exhaust, all accessories, instrument cluster and air box.
After reading all your posts, I'm freaking just a little bit cause I don't have the harness. I put out a request for them using the VIN number on one of the online salvage searches and have a few hits for the ECU verified through the VIN, but no harness. I've already got the tranny and tcase practically sold for what I got the whole setup for so I basically got the 104,000 mile 3.4l for free.
Looking for some help and suggestions here...
BTW, I love your forum. I put a Cummins 4BT in my old Bronco and a 454 TBI in my 72 Blazer and have subscribed to many forums, but you guys have a genuine brotherhood here. It's nice to see so many people helping each other instead of having pissing contests. Proud to be new member!

$250 for all that?! That's a deal. Just for clarity, do you have the harness on the engine but everything is just snipped or has everything just been disconnected? If they're just snipped you can probably retrace everything with the schematics then have a custom conversion harness made. Otherwise best of luck in your search!
Wish I could be more help but welcome to yotatech!

Contact TMZ, he is building harnesses for folks on here. CaddiDaddy just got his and from what I hear he really likes it and TMZ does great work. As for the ECM (ECU) google the ECU, you will have to enter in the engine year and transmission type. There are 2 companies that I know of that sell just the ECU. Hope that helps you and good luck!

Cool Cool
Thanks for all the suggestions. The people on here genuinely want to help.
I PMd and emailed TMZ, waiting on a response from him.
Talked with BJB in NC and he has a T100 setup but I'm leary of it being a 95.5 harnes/ecu
