Getting ready to cut the hood and install hood scoop and...

the hood closes just fine without needing to cut a hole! I just cut out part of the reinforcement ... Awesome makes it even more of a sleeper. I wonder why the difference in engine heights. I do not have a body lift either...

You're the first I've heard of, personally. Must be shorter height engine mounts in only a select few 4runners.

I did the same thing on my 92 4Runner. No hole, just the braces. Actually didn't even cut the braces to start with but noticed later that they were rubbing a little.

I only cut the braces at first and it caused 2 very small dents in the hood... granted I have the S/C and the dents were caused by the nose of the S/C.

If I didn't have it I think it would have cleared just fine!

No body lifts.

On mine 3.4 swap, I just cut out the brace for the hood, and it closes. No body lift.

I'm glad this is getting out. When I was researching this swap all I could find was that you needed at least a 1" BL to clear. Lots of differing info out there.

the ors instructions said that the early models, first/second gens have less clearance than later models. my 88 looks like the hood will be cut even before i charge it. i just hope the mustang scoop will clear the sc, will find out when i get there.

I didn't cut anything and no body lift. Hood on my 93 closes fine. There are a couple of spots where the throttle cable and a vacuum hose at the rear of motor rubbed thru the insulation.

Sweet maybe I can save a few bucks and just cut out a little metal. Thanks for the info.

Definetly Varies

From what I came across when I was researching, it looked like the 2nd gen trucks/4Runners had more room and it was a case by case if cutting just the braces works, or if you have to go the hole/scoop route.

My 88 needed a pretty big hole that the scoop barely covered.
