Dual case crossmember? What did you use?

3.4 swap with 3.0 5 spd v6 adapter with dual cases

What did you use for a crossmember? I've searched for at least an hour and not finding much.

Thanks.

Thanks.

Yeah, I can make one. That's not the issue. Just looking to see what others have done.

I used a Trail Gear one. Fit perfect and my stock 97 3.4. 3.0R150 and dual cases using a Marlin adapter, and two Trail Gear "bomb Proof" mounts.

I assume you are going to use the stock Runner downpipe and CAT since I think that you have the setup as me.

My Xmember fits perfect and tucks the CAT up there nicely like it was all made to go together. Its well protected and plenty of clearnace for the O2 sensors, which I have not moved at all from their factory locations. My downpipe is also 100% unmodified.

Pics for reference. No muffler as of yet.

I did. Just got finished glancing through all the pics.

Anybody know if the post 95 5 spd causes any issues, mates up to any of the off the shelf dual cross members right?

I got a buddy looking to use a Tacoma 3.4 and mating 5 spd for his swap.
Is there even an adapter for that tranny for duals?

I usually mess only with pre 95 stuff for this reason. Much simpler.

I know marlin has an adapter for the later r150's to the gear drive t-case. I think inchworm does too.

TG doesnt make a crossmember for that tranny to dual setup. I would think that there cannot be much of a demand for it to warrant the R&D work for.

Bud may.

Probably a custom one would be his only option

As Jason said, Marlin makes an adapter for the cases to the Tacoma trans. Same price as the style for the older one. I do not think that TG does.

Crossmember

Do you suppose a DIY kit might be needed for this kind of swap? More and more Taco guys are building their rigs up.

I used one from Front Range Offroad. You can get one designed for a 10 degree clocked case, and you can pay a little more for a skid plate. It seems to be a pretty solid mount with excellent ground clearance too. In addition, you can set it anywhere you need it, since it is weld in. Therefore, you don't have to pry on anything to get bolts to line up. Just set it up, weld it in, and you're good. I had one before the 3.4 swap. All that I had to do to mount the new transmission was cut off the old mounts, and weld it to another spot. I've been very satisfied with it.

I've never done a 3.4 conversion before, but I do know that the 3VZ and 5VZ have the same bellhousing-to-engine mount distance, so whatever solutions exist for the 3.0 in terms of a crossmember, barring exhaust issues, will be compatible with a 3.4 swap. In this sense (pure bolt pattern compatibility) you could even use the factory 3.0 crossmember with a 3.4 conversion -- even in a dual case configuration.
