Donor auto my truck manual what do I do?
Found a great deal on a 3.4 for my 2 gen 4runner, but its an auto and the runner is a straight drive. What is needed to convert to a straight drive? Im guessing ecu issues with the tranny and weather or not to use the 3.0 clutch parts.

Hey man, I have just finished this swap myself (97 3.4 into a 93 4Runner). I used all of the 3.0 clutch parts and an auto ecm. I used the shift indicator from the side of the auto trans. to plug into the wiring and mounted it under the 4Runner. Simply set the shift indicator in the park position before mounting it.
You will still get a couple of codes thru the OBD2 (P0710, P0758, P0773) pretaining to the auto trans because the ECM is looking for signals from the auto, but it will not affect the preformance of the engine at all. I have driven mine apprx. 400 miles so far (with a 150 mile trip this past weekend - 100+ miles at 70+ MPH) and averaged apprx. 16 mpg.
If running the auto ECM still concerns you, let me know. I have a 97 2wd manual ECM that I was planning to use if the aut ECM didn't work out, but I can now sell it if anyone is interested.
Let me know if I can help out in any way, I am in Raleigh, NC.

You don't necessarily have to get an entire donor vehicle either.
Around where do you live? Just wondering because you can get a decent engine for a decent price from a parts yard. For example, if you lived in Spokane, WA area then Spalding has a selection of 3.4s last I checked.

Well I have connections to places in both Rapid City SD and Idaho Falls ID. i checked the parts yards enough to find the engine for about a grand. I was hoping for a better deal than that. I am sure someone has a rolled 4runner or something that is nearly junk
