Ok, so I have my 3.4 ready to go in, seems like everyone says to use a 3.4l clutch kit.and a 3.0 throw out bearing. but what if I'm using the flywheel off the 3.0. .do I just use the 3.0 clutch kit.
hoping to install motor tomorrow, this is my last step.

the reason I'm asking,, I went to mount my 3.4l clutch to a 3.0l flywheel, the alignment dowels don't match up and neither did the bolt holes. I know it seems like a no brainer, just use the 3.0 clutch because you already know it bolts to that flywheel.
I'm just looking to hear from someone who has done it, before I get parts delivered and have to send those back too.

I have heard of guys using a 3.0 clutch kit and everything worked for them. Personally I went with the 3.4 flywheel and kit and just used the 3.0 throwout bearing. I do know the 5vz and the 3vz have different flywheels. On a Lexus 1uz forum they were talking about the thickness of them. If I can find it I will add it later.

 

I used all of the 3.0 clutch parts and it works great. 3.0 flywheel, disc, pressure plate, throw out. I guess the difference is the 3.4 clutch has a bigger surface area so it grips better. the ring gear is the same diameter I believe so you can use either one

 

I am not sure about your question since I used the auto but keep in mind that you will probably want to stay with the matching starter for whatever flywheel you use.

 

my understanding is that you can use either starter on either flywheel. I went with the 3.4 starter and replaced the contacts. I also went with the 3.4 clutch and flywheel but have heard of people going all 3.0 but I think there are key differences that make the 3.4 setup better like greater clutch surface area for better grip.
