Batt cable to fuse box. & VSV wires

Can I just run the batt cable from the starter to the fuse box instead of running it all the way to the batt. post?
What's the difference?

I'm also having difficulty locating the wires for VSV....I don't think it came with the engine.
I only have two sets of wire harness. One goes inside the truck the other goes to the O2 sensors and transmission.

Is there another wire harness that I'm missing?

Fuse panel needs it's own wire. Under cranking, the starter draws massive current and that may not leave enough formthenfuse panel if running on the same line. It might work fine, in fact itt probably would. I wouldn't do it though. Cutting corners usually screws you.

Do NOT run that lead into the fuse block. The starter main lead needs to be hooked directly to the battery. I opted for using the stock 3.4 battery wiring harness, and just ran a spare wire across the core support to connect the fuse block to the top of the battery (for fuse block power)

If you try and run the starter main power lead into the fuse block, you are gonna melt something. Just compare the gauge of wire for the starter lead, and the rest of the wires in the fuse block. BIG difference.

As for the VSV wires, the engine wiring harness doesn't have the VSV wires on them. Its actually on the fuse block wiring in the 3.4 equipped rigs. If you didn't cut the wires from the donor rig for the VSV's, you won't have anywhere to plug them into.

If you size your battery cable right, starter draw shouldnt be a problem.

I went large gauge cable from battery (behind back seats) to starter post, and then a smaller gauge cable from starter post to fuse box.

Good Luck

If you are buying your wiring and terminals, by the time you bought 00-2 gauge wire and the needed terminals and then bought 4-8 gauge wire to run to the fuse panel you could do it RIGHT with the stock 3.4 battery cable (already terminated) and some 8 gauge wire to the fuse panel from the battery.

I honestly don't see the downside of doing it right, and like EVERY car manufacture in the world does it.
