? about wire from battery to fuse box

What size wire should I use to get from the battery to the fuse box?

Should I leave the fusible link that's coming out of the fuse box?

I was thinking running 8awg wire to the fusible link, but someone said going from 8awg to 12awg (estimated size of fusible link) wouldn't be safe.

BTW. Does anyone know the size of the fusible link?

What fusible link? 8ga is fine but the wire should go directly the lug on the main power fuse.

At least that is how both that I did were. Perhaps your fuse box is different?

This is how mine is too. 8ga directly from battery to main power fuse. I, too, was not sure what/where a fusible link was.

My 92 truck has a fusible link before the fuse.

Is it necessary? Or one of those "couldn't hurt" things?

I believe the fusable link is in the fuse box. It's the big plastic square "fuse" that's in the fuse box. From what I understand it's there because it's not as easy to get as a normal fuse. IE if you blow this you have a serious ground that can cause a fire, and we don't want you to even try running this car until you fix it.

More than one type. We are talking about a wire type that is before the one in the fuse block.

Yes. It's the wire one that I have coming out of the box going straight to the battery. Should I just get rid of the fusible link wire and run 8AWG from the lug in the box, add in a fuse and then to the battery?

If its fused its fused for a reason. Although I do think they were phased out in later years
