a340f Shift lock release

Calling on anyone who has the shift lock release working properly using the doner shifter and doner a340f. The only thread I can find any info about it is Mt.Goat's thread, but the pictures are too small to see what was spliced. The 98 EWD is not making any sense and colors are not matching up. Any help would be appreciated.

Not much help on this one, I always thought the shift lock release was physical and not electrical. Odd that it suddenly stopped working though, have you taken a look under the car at the actual linkage?

Sorry might be completely off base on this one.

How do you disable the lock? Physically remove it? I'm not opposed to it. I've been pushing the button To this point.

pop the cover off, see what is blocking it from shifting and remove it. my Xterra had a little lever that simply pushed off, my civic had a small plastic pin that i used a razor to cut off.

you could just rewire it to stay open but with being constantly on it may burn up faster. i prefer to just remove it and forget it

That's just what I'll do then.

If somebody knows how to properly wire it up feel free to chime in. The wires going out of my shift lock to the solenoids match up with the EWD but the input wires don't match jack squat. I have a Y, R-W, R, L-W, and B for inputs.

I have an extra shifter I can play with later.

I managed to take one picture and make a diagram when I spliced the shift lock connector:

Much of the wire color codes for the earlier trucks are incorrect in the Toyota EWDs, so with a little ohmmeter work this is what it is on my truck.

Cadman I wired it up just like you showed. The colors on my '95 matched up with your '89 too. I heard the relay clicking in the dash, but the shifter button would still not depress.

I got tired of messing with it, so I removed a couple screws on the shift lock actuator solenoid and removed it completely.

After removing it, you still have to depress the shifter button to get it into gear, which was really my only concern about removing or disabling the shift lock. This is satisfactory to me, so it's staying this way.

I'm going to cross post this into my build thread for another search reference.

Your shift lock ECU or the shift lock unit may be faulty, most likely the lock unit if either of the two.
