95 runner 3.4 auto, to r150f with auto ecu problems *solved*

Just finished my swap the other day and a few things i noticed other then the new power!
It's taking longer to crank over and idles around 1250 rpm once warm, cold its right at 2k.

Only wiring i have done was to jump the park/neutral on the plug, i know it is better to re pin the harness and run a manual ecu but i do not feel comfortable with the wiring, don't want anything burning to the ground :/

Just wired up the obd2 plug which isn't to bad but ill get some codes and see if i cant trick the computer into thinking the autos still hooked up.

Also heard from a guy that swapped a 96 4 runner auto to Manuel and was getting 10 mpg running 35's and lockers.

Any ideas or are these common problems with this swap?

Didn't know what section to post this in as its more of a tranny swap question
thanks in advance

Well give it more than a day! I'll bet all your problems stem from the wiring you said you weren't comfortable with. Check your MAF wiring. Did you wire the COR like a 3.0 or 3.4? Are you getting into closed loop?

Haven't gotten a code reading yet because work, i tore the iac apart and looked around a bit more, of course the minute i unplug the iac plug it idles right at 750 so i'm more positive the problem is code related to the tranny.
I didn't wire the truck, guy by the name Slater442w30 wired it for the guy i bought it from, bought it with a mess of problems and am slowly working them out the auto was by far the biggest.
Slater did a great job wiring it and has done several other rigs on here so i wasn't worried.

COR?
It should be going into closed loop if not it will show in the mileage
all the wiring for the MAF look good and go where they are supposed to
only things that's kinda sketchy is i never had to jump the park/neutral wires so he had already bypassed it when he wired in the auto.

Got some codes today.
3 are the shift solenoids
one is the rear speed sensor which i'm not worried about
tranny coolant temp sensor
and a o2 code which i think is because the other 6 codes

po141
po710
po753
po758
po773
po1700

im gonna attempt to use resistors but haven't found the wires for the 3 shift solenoids yet found the coolant one and the speed sensor one but i'm still working on the other.
also have the TIS ewds now
i would use a manual ecu and re pin but i couldn't find the ewd's for a manual ecu at TIS?
and yes its running in open loop

Following this thread .
http://ttora.com/forum/showthread.php?t=157706

Got the 3 solenoids hooked up to 470 1/2 watt resistors (3) couldn't find 460's.
and the tranny temp sensor hooked up to a 2.2k 1/4 ohm resistor.

Ordered a obd2 reader pretty sure the local parts guy is tired of reading my codes lol

My only other alternative is to pull the original shift solenoids out of the auto and wire them into the harness which would also work...any thoughts?

Why not just get a M/T ECU?

You said you couldn't find the M/T pin-outs in your EWD, but you haven't posted anything about what EWD you're looking at; i.e. what year, application (4Runner, Tacoma, T100, Tundra), options (4wd, 2wd, standard cab, extended cab, 1/2 ton, 1 ton, CA, Fed)?

It may just be me, but it seems like you're trying way too hard to fit a round peg into a square hole. I don't have any real technical advice to offer since I converted my donor to M/T, but I hope you get it figured out and post up what you find.

You wont get it to run right with an auto ecu you will have codes for P0700 the pinouts are on TIS instead of making 2 sets of ewd's Toyota double labeled all the connectors on the ewd. it saved them time. buy the connectors from Toyota and repin it.

I want to repin the harness and run the right ecu and i would if i could have found the EWD's.
The engine and ecu is out of a Oregon, Tacoma, extra cab, auto 98.
i do over think a lot of stuff but the wiring isn't nearly as bad all i need is the right ewd's to do it right.
today i pulled the old auto tranny coolant temp sensor out and wired it into the harness along with the 3 shift solenoids which i mounted in a atf oil bath because i noticed they get hot in an atempt to take care of a few codes not sure yet but ill keep it updated.
If i'm correct that should have taken care of 4 of the codes and i'm not worried about the po1700 speed sensor that wont cause limp mode i'm in Oregon and having a check engine light is the least of my worries.
double labels all their connectors? are the 98 Manuel ecu pin outs close to the autos?
my subscription just ran out at tis >_<
any who lol
I looked and all i could find where for autos i guess i'm looking in the wrong spot?
Does anybody have a ecu pin out for a 98 Tacoma manual they don't mind passing on?

when you look at an EWD they list at the ECU 19D and 18H for the same pin D is E8 connector on a manual and H is E12 connector on an auto. it is then connector E8Pin19 on a manual and E12Pin18 on an Auto. DOing the same function...

Life would be easier if yota would have used the same connector Auto and Manual Oh well.... Every EWD has both auto and MAnual wiring

I pulled this from 97 4runner.... if you saved your EWDs to your computer let me know I will walk you through this over the phone, once you understand its pretty simple...

That would be awesome, most Tacoma's are auto so i wouldn't be to surprised.
So far since the wiring i have done yesterday it does not seem to be getting nearly the mileage it was getting.
Still want to simplify the wiring just a matter of really studying them for a day
ill post a pic of the rats nest from the ecu to Body Harness convo

Before 105 miles half a tank, now its 47 miles tank still reads full
keep in mind the gearing WAY off 4.10's are next

Little update
Got the a.d.d for the front axle hooked up just ran 2 wires from the vsv's to a single pole double throw switch inside the cab.
I still have 2 codes, speed sensor which will never go away till i swap ecu's, and a rear o2 because there is no rear o2 sensor lol
Still has a high idle (1250-2000) but i'm convinced it's something behind the engine got pinched when i lowered the cross member vacuum line or the intake not sure.
runs like a top and is very fun to drive

So after a week i got it dialed in for the most part.

Swapped in 4.10's front and rear today with manual hubs still running only two codes, rpm at 60 mph is just under 2500, pretty sure 60 is 50 on my speedo no way of checking yet but my mileage is very close to 20.

High idle was caused by a worn throttle body (air getting by the butter fly valve) fixed with RTV till i can afford a new one.
Still in need of a Manuel drive shaft or a way to extend, mine vibrates pretty bad when i let off the gas.
