3.4 swap, mechanical fan

Going to run a mechanical clutch fan on my 22re to 3.4 swap in my 95 pickup. Already have a stock replacement 3.0 radiator, and will be buying a fan shroud for it. My question is should I use a 3.4 fan clutch and blade, a 3.0 fan clutch and blade, or a combination of both? Anyone ever done a swap and kept their mechanical fan?

I am using my stock 4 row brass radiator from my 88 22RE, I think the 3.4 fan clutch. Not positive. And the 3.0 fan. The 3.4 fan is bigger than my radiator. I made a shroud.

I'm pretty sure I'm running the 2.4 fan, and I'm running my 2.4 radiator. I have yet to put a shroud in, but that's soon. It'll probably be a mash-up of the 2.4 and 3.4

Ended up buying a 3.4 fan clutch and a 3.0 fan blade to go with the 3.0 radiator and shroud. We'll see what happens.

My 3.4 came with the clutch and fan and I've been running with the 3.0 rad and no shroud, but I've read many posts about people using the 3.0 fan and clutch on the 3.4 to fit the 3.0 shroud.

Older thread but I run a Copper and Brass Radiator with the 3.4 fan clutch and fan.

I have never had a fan Shroud on any of my Toyota`s never had any cooling issues Then I never explore The Desert in Summer.

How’s the 3.0 fan holding up? Another guy on here recently had his explode on his 3.4 swap.

I ran my truck shroudless in Moab in 90 degree weather with no overheating problems. And we’re talking clutch burning rock crawling.

That proves my point not having ever done that I could not very well make the statement one never needs a fan shroud,

Some cooling systems rely heavily on a shroud... I was apprehensive at first, but the temp gauge never let me down

I ran the 3.0 fan on my swap for a bit and it broke up on the interstate. Grabbed a 3.4 fan. Both bolt up but I guess the 3.0 fan is more prone to failure due to the outer ring. I did a 1" body lift so I cut my shroud a bit to fit.

Lool, trust me nothing wrong with the fitment of the 3.0 fan. I just saw it had a massive crack and then decided I would see how long until it exploded. If anyone is curious it made it a whole year with a few big cracks.

Hmm. I used the 3.0 fan; the 3.4 was just too huge. And no shroud. Shoot I haven't even got the trans back in place yet so its not running by any stretch.

Wonder what I was doing wrong?
Anywho good job on the swap!
