22re man. to 3.4 auto/gear drive transfer case

i am swapping a 2000 runner 3.4 with auto trans into my 88 22re 5spd xtra cab keeping the stock gear drive transfer case. what should i do with the shifter issue, the transfer case shifter is on the right side, the same side as the auto shifter?

You need an adapter for this conversion and your tcase shifter will be on the tcase.

What is the issue?

i have the marlin crawler adapter in the transmission already. the 23 spline adapter will be put in the transfer case. my question is will the transfer case shifter and the auto trans shifter operate without interference. the two shifters from the original applications are on opposite sides of each other. i know this is what you do, so thanks in advance for sharing

Auto tranny shifter will still shift the tranny.

Your tcase will now be manually actuated by the gear driven tcase shifter.

Both we've done were automatics and no issues.

Any other shifters are irrelevant. If you want the little tranny shifter up by the auto shifter to work then you will need to build a linkage I suppose.

Going dual cases? Look into Rory's triple sticks.

Hooking up all the 4WD dash light indicator is the same as you have the same tcase.

Did I understand your question right this time?

i dont think so. my concern is that my stock trans shifter [22re 5spd] is on the left side of the transfer case shifter. the 3.4 auto shifter is on the right side of the transfer case shifter. with the new [auto] shifter installed, will it be in the same location as it was with the donor car [on the right of the tc shifter] or will it be be on the left side of the tc shifter as it is in my manual trans. i have read ors instructions on auto conversion but they are an auto to auto swap, my swap is manual to auto swap. is this something that would explain itself after i get the components in place? i may be overthinking this but they dont look like they will fit together side by side without mods.

WTF I dont get it and now I am cross eyed reading this over and over.

Long story short, you are not going to have a issue using a 340F auto from your Taco donor and a gear driven transfer case behind it. You may have to trim the floor a bit and make new mounts for the auto shifter. They are not going to hit each other.

You are using a stock shifter that came from your 2000 donor's tranny correct?

With the right trim pieces you could have something like this.
