That is the rear sensor. Also, that's assuming you have a non-california emissions engine, but you being so far north I assume...then again you know what can happen when you assume.
It's listed either here:

or here:

Do you know what options it came with? Like whether it was an sr5 model or dlx?

I really have no idea what could be different from the sr5 engine and the dlx engine anyway. They were rated at the same hp and torque an stuff, both had 1 cat and 2 o2 sensors, unless they were cali-spec. Unfortunately for you Neo, I got the whole exhaust system back to the muffler when I helped the guy pull the motor. I'll take a look at my 2nd o2 and check the actual part number. The one I gave you before was the list on that site...
edit- looked it over and couldn't discern a part number, sorry.

These are all of the O2/Air-Fuel ratio sensors for North American 2000 Tacomas, 4 cylinder & V6. I printed these straight out of the Toyota EPC, but I'm sure some of these part numbers have been superseded. You can see why dealers ask for the VIN.
I would just get the Denso sensor from URD.

Thanks guys. Ya it seems there are an awful lot of choices. I may have to do some "denial and error". I took it out for my first real trip today. Did about 130mi. Up into the mountains today.
Local hill that I used to have to drop the hammer on in 4th to get a run at it and then by the top I was in 3rd doing 30mph, I just leisurely cruised up in 5th with no running start. I had a huge grin on my face all the way up. Truck is so much nicer to drive now. I seem to be getting better gas mileage too.
Just need to sort out the O2 and get the check engine light off and I'll be happy as a pig in ....! Wish I had done this swap years ago.

Well I figured out the OBD2 problem. Seems my code reader pushed the power and signal pin into the connector just far enough not to work. Got it working now.
So I cleared the only code (P1600). We'll see if anything comes up. Maybe my O2 sensors are Ok after all.

*Update*
I took it out on it's first trail run yesterday since putting in the 3.4l. The 3.4l definitely has more "grunt" than the old 3.0l that was in there. Things that I used to have to shift into 4low to do I can now do comfortably in 4hi.
The swap didn't add huge power to my truck but it increased the driveability
10 fold. I also love the fact that when I step on the gas in 4th or 5th something actually happens. It's not pressed back into your seat power but it actually starts to accellerate. I think in a stock truck this motor would be a pretty significant upgrade.
I would definitely recommend this swap to anyone who's 3.0l is getting tired or is done. If you plan on keeping your truck, it's definitely not worth putting the 3.0l back in your truck when this swap is so easy to do.
Cheers.

***Update***
Well the letter came in the mail today to go down and get my truck smogged (we call it aircare here).
So I went down and it passed with flying colors. WooHoo. I wasn't really too worried but you never know.
They don't even look under the hood here so I decided not to mention it was a 3.4l. They didn't ask, I didn't volunteer it.

Thank you for the great write up! I just bought my motor and trans from a 97 4runner and you have inspired me to get started and gave me many great ideas. I was worried about ORS closing their doors but now I think it saved bunches of money. Thanks again and if this project gets out of hand, any interest in a trip to Vegas to lend a hand? Cheers

I'm sure you'll figure it out. Feel free to pm me with any questions and I'll do what I can. There is a lot of help available here on the forum. Start a thread so we can follow along. Good luck.

Well I was never happy with the hood scoop I added after the swap. So here I am rock climbing in Greece and everyone is driving Hilux pickups with the 3.0l d-4d intercooled turbo diesel and they all have the factory hood scoop.
I just ordered the scoop from the local Toyota dealer. Should be here in a couple days. WooHoo. It'll be coming back in my carry-on. LOL.
I'll post up some picks when I get back to Canada.

Ok this isn't too exciting but it's all I've got lately. Since I finished my 3.4 swap, I was never really satisfied with the cheap Subaru WRX Impreza ricer knockoff hood scoop I put on to cover the hole.

So while I was over in Greece I noticed all the d4d intercooled diesel Toyotas had factory scoops. Made a trip to the local dealer and had a look under the hood. Ordered one that day and brought it back to Canada in my carry-on, which my wife thought was incredibly amusing for some reason.
I bought another hood for $50 and fit it up today. Managed to mount it using all the factory mounting studs. No cheesy double sided tape. Super solid, removable and FACTORY. Off to the paint shop next.

I also deleted the hood vents which aren't really needed since the swap. I think once it's painted it should look a lot cleaner.

Thanks. Ya I was over there for 3 weeks climbing. The Toyota hilux's they sell with the 3.0l intercooled turbo diesel sure are nice. If I could have fit one of those motors in my carry-on I would have. LOL!

I know the feeling.
