ok so the problem started yesterday, but today it would not even turn over.

first i put the key in, when i turn it, it goes "click" and stop, yesterday i got lucky and it started.

today it just goes "click" and maybe once it almost turn overs but doesnt

dead battery i presume? or u think any other problem?

spark plug? grounding?

Probably just a dead battery. Take your battery to a parts store and have it tested.
If it's good, then look for loose or broken grounds or bad starter.
Have you tried to jump it off?

 

Most likely the starter is about to go out.

i checked my battery was good, i have the optima yellow top. imma redo my grounding. i probably kicked something loose.

how long would a starter last. i was thinking that too. i have 75k miles 1997 4runner limited.

 

Yeah I'd say it's your starter, I had a similar problem with my intergra it would click and if I kept trying to start it would eventually turn over.

 

ahh...darn it, how much is a 4runner starter? anyone?

 

you could probably get a used one for a good price, that's what I had to end up doing, had no problems after that.

 

This is a very common problem. Try searching and you'll find a $10 solution.
