Danny, is your balljoint fried or is it just the boot leaking? If only the boot is leaking then you may just need to replace that and re-pack with grease. My local Toyota dealership tried to tell me that I could only order a complete new balljoint instead of just the boot. Steve Schaefer told me about the boot part number at CO4RJ.

Upper Ball Joint Boot: 43324-39015

Maybe it will save you a few bucks.

I believe the boot may just be busted. It does make a loud squeak though when I hit bumps, ect. Do you think I should replace the whole thing or just the boot? How difficult was just the boot to replace?

Thanks

Every once in a while I have a loud squeak when I hit bumps. I found that came from my upper control arm bushings. A few squirts of WD-40 and it goes away for a couple of months. Maybe the squeak is something minor like that.

My ball joint wasn't bad after all. The boot did not seat properly when I swapped to the ATS arms so there was a slight leak. There was a test that somebody posted describing how to check if your BJ was bad. You might try and search for that. I can't tell you what all is involved in totally removing the ball joint since I haven't had to do it myself.

From what I have seen so far, ball joints are easy to take out and put in, so as long as you have a jaw puller tool. If the tie rod end is connected to the ball joint, after replacement, get an alignment as sometimes "toe" may vary with a newer joint.

my ball joint boots are kinda busted from putting a knuckle adapter on my spindle with my lift, i have a 2nd gen, but you are saying that i can just get new boots instead of whole new assemblies, do they have them for 2nd gens?

I found this on the net, it's a very simple tool you can fabricate to remove and install new upper ball joints....

I made a similar tool when I installed my Total chaos long travel kit.
