pepboys wrong parts
pepboys gave you the timing kit for a 84 and older 22r the 1st time thats probably why it would not fit. the 85 and newer blocks are a 1/4 inch shorter than the 84 and older ones

Remember to replace the h2o pump and any thing else under the cover like the tensioner ,did you say beer also ?

I got my new Timing chain, sprockets, tensioner and steel-backed guides in this weekend.
Wasn't too bad at all but it did take a lot of hours.I started Friday afternoon and finished it this morning. Probably about 18 hrs total but I wasn't rushing.
Feels good to gain that knowledge about my motor though...

1000 bucks for a new timing chain??/

Its not much for the timing chain, But the labor to pay someone to do it if i remember right was near 1000$.
