stalling out and unable to restart the engine
i went wheelin today at rowher flats and came to a really steep downhill, off-camber section when i was crawling down and my steering ended up fully turned driver side and the engine stalled out. i tried restarting, but it just wasn't happening. the truck was pointed downhill and a pretty steep angle and i was a bit off camber to the passenger side. i had my friend turn the key so i could wrestle the steering to the right and i crawled down a bit more and got to more level ground. then, finally, i was able to restart the engine.
so my question is, why did i stall out and why couldn't i restart? prior to this, and after this incident i can start the engine just fine. maybe this is something simple, yet just some knowledge i haven't picked up yet along my wheeling way, but i am curious why this happened and maybe a way to prevent this from happening again given a similar situation...

weird. only thing that comes to mind for me is if you were low on gass, it could have all sloshed away from the intake, but i doubt that.

When you turn the steering to the stops, doesn't it drop the idle speed?
Still doesn't explain not being able to restart?

about the out of gas idea...i had just under a 1/4 tank, so i didn't think of that. it's low, but i didn't think it's that low enough to cause such a problem

I'm going with the low gas too. If you were at an extreme angle then the (1/4 tank) approx. 4 gallons left in the tank could have been all to the front so the pick up couldn't reach it.
Its a safe rule to alway fill up prior to wheelin'. Who knows when you have to spend the night on the trail or share fuel with somone else who has run out.
