if you're just replacing a bad cv axle with another built one, it's easy.

you can do both sides in under 2 hours easily. much faster once you have some experience.

you'll need some ratcheting wrenches. i forget the sizes, but at least one 35 mm fitting (for a 3rd gen 4runner at least). a breaker bar helps too.
search and you should be able to find some writeups.

It's been a while since I did mine...not too bad of a job. I had torn boots, so I pulled my axle shafts and took them to a front end shop (because I didn't have to tool to recrimp the band that holds the boot on). Are you swapping new ones are rebuilding the old ones?

I'm trying to find all of my pics when I pulled it...

Judging by his name, I'm guessing he's got a tacoma which is completely different from your CVs.

BTW, you don't need the tool to crimp the clamps, I just used my fingers and something to mash down the tabs.

I knew of someone who didn't use it and had problems, so I took it to a buddy at the alignment shop to let him inspect it, pack it with their grease, and recrimp it with new bands he had.

This sounds more like a MAINTENANCE topic than a FABRICATION topic... Moving...

In that case search around, there's some pretty good posts about how to do it.
