Pinion Seal

What all is invovled in replacing the pinion seal on an 8" V6??? DO you have to remove the crush sleeve??? or can you replace it with out ruining your ring and pinion set up???? Just curious because mine starting leaking the other day and I want to replace it.

Pretty simple...even I can do THAT one.
Match mark the shaft, remove the four bolts, remove the shaft, remove the crush sleeve, CAREFULLY insert the new sleeve, insert new seal, re-insert the shaft, tighten the bolts. MAKE SURE you count the number of exposed threads BEFORE you remove the large nut. This should give you the same pre-tension load.
I may have left out a few steps, so do a search...pretty sure there is a write-up on this, or at least, a thread with all the directions...this is where I found out how to do it.

PM ZUK, he is a member here and is a master of gear installs from what I have read here and on 4x4 wire. He should be able to tell you everything you need to do.
