Need Motive Power Bleeder - Which One?

I did some work on my truck the other day that required bleeding my brakes and now they just don't feel right after I bled them. So now I'm looking into a Motive Power Bleeder but see that there is many that may work for my 2001 Tacoma.

Anyone know which one will work?

Hey Ben,

I picked one up last month. Darn thing works great.
You will want the Motive Products Universal Power Bleeder.
It comes with the adapter 1101 that will fit your Taco.
The price for the Universal Power Bleeder (part number 0101) is $49.95. Thats less than the price it would cost you to get it done professionally using the same method.

Mike

I think Rob bought his after the SAS. I was thinking of asking him but it sounds like it is the only way to bleed Toyota brakes. After I replaced my rear 3rd member 2 months ago they haven't been the same. Then I put a longer rear brake line in and now they really suck. I am going to order one monday. For now I am going to try and bleed them again today.

At the close of my SAS, ChrisCo and I found that we were going to be very old men before we managed to get my brakes bleed out completely After a bit of research, I talked ChrisCo into adding a Motive to his tool rack in the WATTORA garage. It made all the difference in the world and I will never bleed brakes the old fashioned way again.

The motive system is superior to the old "pump, pump, hold" method in multiple ways, which you can see documented in places from the Motive site itself, to Gadget's site, etc., so I won't go into that. What got me was the difference it made and the ease of use. We went around my brakes a dozen times, feeling slight improvement each time the old way, but after a session with the Motive, I went from having Flintstone brakes to actually being able to stop at will

I cannot recommend the motive system enough. Don't even bother bleeding your Toyota truck brakes the old way, buy, beg, borrow, steal a Motive and do it the right way.

I agree with Smegal that the "Universal" seems to be the way to go for most of our rigs (sorry Ducky). That's what ChrisCo got for us and it works like a charm.

Question Hey, Rob...

Are your brakes still 'anti-lock', or did that change with the SAS..?

When I purchased my truck I got it without the ABS because I knew I would be wheeling it and I have never trusted or liked the feeling the anti-lock brakes off road, preferring have complete control over that part of the process.

I can't imagine being able to build the required sensors for the ABS into a D44 that never had them before. I don't recall having read of anyone who addressed this issue either, but I can't think of a way to pull it off right off the top of my head.

I have a cheap ($5) one man brake bleeding tool and the Motive brake bleeder and I like using the cheap tool a lot better. The Motive brake bleeder is more of a hassle to use since I have to clean the jug after bleeding brakes/clutch. I seem to waste a lot more fluid as well. The cheap tool is just easier to use in my experience.

CHECK IT OUT HERE Mine came w/ a clear tube though. I forgot to add in my last post that I also have a Mityvac brake bleeder too and still prefer using the cheap tool.

2002 3rd Gen - What adapter to use for Motive??

Can you guys tell me what adapter I'm to use for an 02?

The Master cylinder is much larger on my truck than earlier 3rd gens.

The universal adapter (the one with chains) doesn't come close to fitting.

Thanks,

Curt
