Angry #@$! micro fiber towels!

I ran a micro fiber towel across my '03 dashboard and it scuffed it up pretty bad. It looks like $h!t now. Don't use them on your dashboards!!!

Anybody have a clue on how to take the scuffs out? I've tried water, tuff stuff, and even low gloss armor all! Your help would be appreciated, this is driving me nuts!

Are you sure it was a MF towel?

You must have had something under or in the towel. MF is MUCH softer that 100% cotton and will not scratch paint, cd's, glasses...much less your dashboard.

It might have been advertised MF, but not true. But it still doesnt make sense that it scuffed your dash.

It's definately a microfiber towel, and it was totally clean. I was surprised at how soft it was and still scuff the dash. I had a completely cleaned dash and I tested it out, and it made another scuff. I know they are definately not scratches.

Does anyond know what I could use to remove these scuffs? As a last resort, I'm going to be running by the dealer's detail guy for suggestions because I'm sure he has had to deal with worse stuff before.

Darn, this is strange....... Was it a waffle weave towel or the regular MF???

I'll have to try it on my Dash. I have only used cotton towels/rags on my interior so far.

No, it looks more like someone wrote on the dash with a piece of chalk. Under certain lighting conditions, there appears to be no marks. I'm trying to get used to it, but if it can be removed, I'll do it.

What happens if you apply pressure while using that towel (dry)? I don't know what the dash is made out of in the '02, it may be a whole different material.

Do you have any suggestions to buff them out? I'm almost positive the color is still there, so I don't need to color it to match it.

EDIT: Weirdest thing, when the dash is wet from water, the marks go away. As soon as the dash dries, they come back.

Maybe I could take a picture of it so you all could see it and say that I'm spazzing out over nothing.

Hmmmm. I use MF towels on my interior and I havent had that problem either. The plastic is much softer and easier to scratch that my '86 was. Gettin' cheaper.......

There is an old detailers trick I learned back in '90 when I had my Extracab truck.

A stereo shop scratched the heck out of my dash down by the lower DIN section.

I went back and showed him and told him I was pretty pissed off as the truck was less than a month old, and I bought it new.

He took his T shirt and spit on it, and then started to buff the scratch real hard.
Scratch was gone in seconds, and I too have sued this method.

I don't know if it's safe for your dash, but you might try it.

When you take the T shirt with a goober on it, and rub, the resulting friction melts the surrounding vinyl or plastic and causes the paint from it to run into the area you are buffing.

I have done that on the 4Runner with success too.

I have some of those MF towels, and have not had any problems with them.

If you have a good magnifying glass look and see it it is fibers from the towel that got imbedded into the dash rather than scratches or scuffs.

I would try Corey's suggestion buy use a cotton Tee Shirt that has been washed a lot.
