Clean it up and find where the leak is coming from. Then the solution will probably be more apparent. If it comes from a seam, try tightening the bolts holding that part together, up to the factory torque spec if they are loose.

I just fixed a very similar leak on my 96. My 96 has 88K miles on it. I discovered it was leaking from the transfer case output shaft seal, a $10 dealer part. It took me about 1 hour with air tools and taking my time. You will need a pry bar to get the output shaft flange nut loose. You will also need something to hold the shaft flange in place while you are reefing on the pry bar. I bent up a steel bracket and bolted it into place, preventing the shaft flange from turning.

The dealer wanted about $100 to do this. I decided to save $90 and do it myself. On a scale of 1 - 10, 10 being a motor swap, I would rate this a 4.

No more leakage.
