How do I know if cv axle is good/bad?
Im gonna be going out to the junkyard tomorrow to look for a cv axle and I was wondering how to tell if it's a good or bad cv axle. Like how to I check to see if the boot and joint are in good condition?
Pictures would help me out if you have any.

well, if the boot is torn then, steer away from it.. if the boots are in good shape, grab the axle and try to move it back and forth, the less play in it the better, easier to tell when you get the axle out, then you can try 'compressing it', a good axle will compress less then a worn out one. thats the only things i can think of. as for pictures, unless the boots are off, you wont be able to see any of the worn out parts.
good luck

thanks, I doubt I will find anything good there. Past two times I went there, there weren't any 4runners or tacomas, even if there are any, they're way to smashed up to pull anything off of em. People need to stop fixing up their wrecked runners so I can get the parts I want, lol.

lol, i say the same thing.. theres maybe 4 2nd-gen runners that see the scrapyards here a year, and they're pretty totalled... and by the time i get to them usually half of the vehicle is scavanged.
