Engine cuts out and misses around 60mph.

I got a carborated 22r with an airhog airfilter 4.10 gears . I just bought it about a month ago and run fine until last night, at high rpm it started cutting out and missing. If i put it neatural after reving it up it dies. If it was bad gas wouldnt it do it all the time? I dont have a tach so i dont know exact rpm range it starts missing at. I gave it a tune up about 3 weeks ago and it has run fine until now. I put splitfire plugs gapped at .32 new Autozone wires and changed the oil and air filter.Anything else i need to change? Any ideas why it would be cutting out? maybe the fuel filter?

Yes, its most likely the fuel filter. My old 87 just all of a sudden one day would cough and sputter whenever I was accelerating up a hill or jumping a stop light. Basically any time you are using a lot of fuel.

Just replace the fuel filter and you should be fine.

I forgot where it was, I think under the driver side by the frame rail...

Ah yes, but did you replace the fuel filter. If its clogged, you could put a pressure washer on the other side and it would still only dribble out fuel.

For a carburated fuel tank, is the filter on the pump or inline? On the EFI motors it's inline.
