clutch pedal falls away, doesn't disengage
With light pressure, my clutch pedal falls to the floor and doesn't come back. Obviously no hydraulic pressure in line. But the fluid level in reservoir is full and pretty constant. rised a bit when pedal is drepressed, falls when I pull the pedal up by hand. The clutch does disengage the tranny right after I stomp the pedal, but does not hold the plate for more than about 1 second.
Faulty master cylinder? I fixed a leaking line and that did not cure it. Res went dry and I'm thinking the MC was fouled.
Any input? I searched but did not find info.
thanks,
J.D.

Faulty slave cyl. If you had a faulty Master Cyl, your brake pedal would go to the floor.
Any recent work we should know about?
Mileage?

I guess I didn't know the difference. Yes, it's the clutch I was having trouble with. I just did the brakes/rotors and the springs and shocks. Those shouldn't impact the clutch, should they?
The SLAVE cylinder, next to the brake master cylinder was replaced today and now it's back to working fine. It got to the point where I had to lift the pedal by hand after every shift. I should not have even driven it, but I had to.
Anything else I should be looking out for? I just got the truck about 4months ago and I think I've fixed most of the immediate issues.
Thanks for the help.

It's back to working normally now. A little chatter when cold, but no big problems.
Thanks for the help,

Isn't the thing next to the master cylinder the clutch master cylinder? The slave cylinder is on the bellhousing for the transmission.

The clutch master cylinder is indeed in the engine compartment, near the brake master cyl - the slave is on the tranny. You said the resovoir went dry - it's on top of the master cyl. Bad seal in the master is much more common than faulty slave.

Thanks Toad. I guess I wasn't wrong after all. And replacing the reservoir/master cylinder corrected the problem.

Sounds like I need to review my FSM's a little better.
So we have the following:
Brake Master Cyl
Clutch Master Cyl
Clutch slave Cyl
Ok, it's making sense now.
