bad vibes....

Anyone know why I might be getting such bad vibrations when I push on the gas? It has just started happening. Any ideas? It seems to vibrate throughout the whole rig. I'm clueless on where to start looking. I check to see if the driveshaft was loose, but all looks well there.

Does it happen when you're on neutral or park too?

I haven't tried it, but I'll give that a shot. Usually I've just noticed it while driving.

Don't know much - only thing I can think of is unbalanced wheels? Maybe a weight fell off?

I'm only drawing from limited personal experience here - you've probably already determined this to not be the cause.
I only asked the question to clarify and get some of the "gurus" to reply

Hope you get it figured out soon!

U-Joint man! Not sure if the 3rd Gens have a carrier bearing but that may be it too. Crawl under your truck and wiggle the driveshaft by hand. It should be pretty apparent which one is bad.

I wiggled the driveshaft but it didn't feel loose.

definitely ujoints - once they're burned they don't slop, they stick! that's what makes the rig vibrate so much

had all your same thoughts before my mechanic friend diagnosed the same symptoms - and he did it over the phone

Yup you guys were right once again. I pulled out the slip yoke tonight, but I couldn't get the ujoint out. I even tried a press, but still no luck. I guess I'll just take it to the dealership in the morning to see what they can do. I still get to drive my rig though. Luckily a buddy has a 96 Taco he's not driving tomorrow, so I kinda borrowed his yoke until tomorrow

You can pull the whole shaft and use 4wd to get front wheel drive untill you get it sorted out. Good luck.

I took the yoke to the dealership this morning and they got the old ujoint out and replaced it with a new one that I had brought them. They didn't charge me a dime either! Another two thumbs up to the dealership
