cat-back = new exhaust from the catalytic converter rearward.

Function/Purpose = to allow a more free-flowing exhaust allowing the engine to breathe better, less restriction.

sound = depends on muffler

price = probably around a few hundred dollars installed w/ muffler

other = Best mod I've done to my 3VZE. Noticeable improvements.

Guys usually go with the 2 1/4" pipe to free things up without losing all of the back pressure.

Good luck,

Warren

Foreigner,
On Corey's site there is an exhaust comparison page so you can get an idea how different systems sound. If you buy a manufactured Catback such as a Gibson, Borla, or Jardine you could probably do the install yourself. These systems cost more than just going to a good exhaust shop and having one fabbed up though. Corey's exhaust page
Good Luck.. BTW my Borla is just bout my favorite mod to date
