What is your favorite set of spark plugs for the 98 V6runners?

I'm getting ready to tackle this.

How often should they be changed? and should they be torqued down or is snug good enuff?

OEM seems the way to go according to most the folks on this board.

Dont some newer 4Runners have Denso on one head and NGK on the other from the factory(ies)

I have heard this, but I have never found evidence that it is true (other than this writeup ). Even if it was, there is such a subtle difference that you would never know the difference from one to the other plug (although Toyota was trying to save money on assembly). Also if you go to the dealer and ask for plugs they will never give you the 2 different sets of plugs. It is perfectly fine to just use either all NGKs or Densos in the engine.

Yes, it's true. The passenger side uses NGKs and the driver side had Densos on my rig. I noticed it when I did the initial spark plug replacement. Since then I've replcaed mine with the NGKs. I'm going to try densos and ngk next time I replace the spark plugs. Hope this helps.

20 ft/lbs acording to Haynes.

Okay, this may be a stupid question, but how do you know when youve torqued them down to 20ft/lbs if you have basic hand tools? Ive never changed my plugs before, but I was thinking I needed to. I thought they just plugged right in??

If you plan on doing more maintenance on your truck, bite the bullet and get a torque wrench. You'll be needing it on other projects as well.

I am running NGK BCPR7ET (2 steps colder, per Gadget's recommendation on S/C engines)

Make sure you put anti-seize on your spark plug threads.
