3.0 EFI issues
I got my '90 3.0 v6 used last week.
Everything is running smoothly, however, I noticed that below/next to the engine on the left hand side (facing the truck from the front), there are two tubes that are sealed over by duct-tape and electrical tape. What are these? are these the fabled "headers"? Am i in trouble?
Also, There is a crack on the large piece of plastic that is running from the engine to the air filter unit.
Thanks

How big are these tubes (pencil, garden hose, tube bumper) and where do they lead?
As for the crack in the air intake - it can cause problems. Duct tape is your best friend if you do it yourself.

The one on the right is the EGR valve...What do you mean sealed with tape? Those are wrapped with heat resistant insulation tape. On the large plastic piece (the intake silencer) do a search for intake silencer (ISR) removal mod and you can replace that easy.

Pictures
Attached is a picture of the tubes. Again, this is below and to the left of the engine.
(also, how do you guys reduce photo file size so they're postable?)

I'm guessing those are the AC lines going from the compressor to the evaporator under the dash. Don't mess with 'em unless you're qualified.

Yeah sure looks like air conditioning lines. Your system is R-12...freon...if it is working don't mess with it like mtnfreak said. That stuff is illegal to empty into the atmosphere (big penalties). If not, take it to someone qualified to do those repairs.
