what engine to swap????

ok yall, in torn. i have decided that my 3.0 needs to go, but i have no idea what to put in its place. i have some iders floating around that i wanted to bounce off yall.

1. big fuel injected V8 (like ford 302 or chevy 350)
2. toyota 3.4
3. buick 3.4 (supercharged)
4. small diesel engine (toyota, vw, something like that)

oh, i know its WAY too big and heavy but i have an '01 5.9 Cummins IBS and nv4500 sitting around...

the 3.4 is really easy in my opinion. especially if you're replacing a 3.0. I swaped mine in for about 2100. And thats just in parts. I did my own wiring and my own exhaust. And i really like the 3.4.

how much are you looking to spend? and what all do you have right now (manual, auto, etc...)?

i personally love the 1UZFE lexus v8. it fits well, bolts up to auto tranny, sounds amazing, plenty of power for the toy (unlike too much if you put in a 350 which could eventuallly break stuff) and its not too difficult of a swap since others have done it and there are forums/references if you need help.

just check out some of the examples...

What he said. If you're looking for simplicity and minimal fab work, the 3.4 is the way to go.

The other swaps can be done, but you're looking at adapters and/or fab work on your own. Whatever spins your windmill.

My vote goes for the 1UZFE , do it we need more of these swaps.

I am really on the fence about doing the 1UZFE , I have recently rebuilt a 3.o and its just sitting in my back yard waiting to be put together (Heads to Block ) but after looking at several videos on the 1UZFe swap I got excited and thought I could do this .

I had been looking for a ls 400 for a while for this and finally bought one on friday I paid $1100 guy wanted $1600 for the car, drove it from penn valley which is about 3.5 hours away.
But I am still not 100% certain I want to do this I m Scaaaared a little.
anyway here is a picture of the car.

i bet you have to extend the frame for a 5.9 cummins up front and i know for sure that engine will tear that frame up like a pretzel

well heres my thought on that. i know a guy that builds AWSOME tube chassis. so id have him do a custom frame. buy a doner chevy or dodge (for the axles and a few suspension/stearing parts).

as for making the engine fit. id call griffin radiator and have a radiator made to fit. and run it non intercooled (water/meth)

my only problem is it would still be too heavy. and i think i would have to do it in an ext cab for everything to fit correctly. yall have no idea how much id LOVE to build this!!

Or for about half the money, buy a used Dodge.

Mind you, there is the downside that you're driving a Dodge.

Kyle these cars can befound pretty cheap there is one for $999 needs alternator ,power steering and hasnt been registered for 5 years .
This car I bought is pretty clean has 240,000 miles has the check engine light one codes show 25 lean malfunction.
but still runs ok.
Right now on craigs there are about 6 or 7 ls400 for under 1800.
GO for the 1UZFE swap .

so a 1UZFE is looking like i winner. cheap, fairly light, and easy to swap.

how "buildable" are they? id like to tune one to 300hp or so.. and how expensive are they to work on? i only looked for a little bit, and i couldnt find much stuff for them (ill keep looking)
