all swaps and costs
so there are i don't know how many threads for engine swaps on this forum. tons of successes, tons of lost causes, and tons of who knows?.
anyway in my search for a possible swap lets post up our swaps and costs of said swaps. that way others can choose what swap they want to do. maybe we can create a sticky
include engine, tranny, cost, custom parts required, etc. keep it simple please we can all go find a write-up if we're interested in a certain swap we find here.

Every swap will be different, but here's how mine broke down
3.0 to Chevy 350
Engine came from a 1976 Blazer. Bought it off my brother for $250. Took the engine, parted the rest and made my money back, so the engine cost me nothing.
Transmission is the stock R150 5 speed from my 3.0, and stock t-case. So no cost there.
I scrounged together scrap steel and various nuts and bolts from home and work, so I diddnt have to buy much raw material.
Pulled the 3.0 and parted it out. Made about $200 on it.
Plugs, wires, coil, cap, rotor, seal kit, timing chain, oil filter, fuel filter, fuel lines, degreaser, paint, and other misc maintenence items to freshen up 350 $400
Advance Adapters bellhousing adapter $450
Centerforce flywheel, clutch disk, and TO bearing $360
153 tooth flywheel $50
Ebay mini starter $90
Ebay block hugger headers $80
Dual glasspacks and pipes $100
Motor mounts $75
Taurus fan $50
Temp controller and solenoid for fan $75
83 Camaro radiator $100
Driveshaft work $150
Now I KNOW im missing something, but so far thats $1930
I had to buy an engine stand and engine hoist, so add another $50 for the stand and $130 for the hoist
I had to have gone through $50 or $60 in grinding wheels and cut off blades
Running total, $2220
And thats being a tight ass. I could have bought a bunch of stuff I made, and used more expensive custom parts instead of the frankenstein parts I used.

Complete 3.4 cost me $2000. Custom crossover to route the exhaust from the passenger side to the driver side, $200. Rest of the exhaust, including two new O2 sensors, about $800, though I think I got a little hooped on that price. Misc bits and pieces, about $500. So, roughly $3500. Sold the old 3.0 for $300, probably could have gotten more, I just wanted it out of my brother's garage.
Call it $3200.

I envy you people on the costs of things you have in America, in Australia things are very different in prices. I bought my 85 4 Runner for $4500.00
Holden 308 motor for $1500.00
355 stroker kit $1200.00
TH700 transmission $1100.00
Adaptor kit for transfer case $850.00
Interfaces for electronic fuel injection$480.00
Pumps and relays and mounting brackets $650.00
Shift mount and display $350.00
I have to point out that my costs are in Australian dollars and probably mean nothing to you guys but I thought i would share it with you anyway.
Clive.

the 1uz is one of the best swaps ive seen it is a bout the same cost as a chevy 350 and when we dynoed a stock lexus sc400 and a72 camaro with a 350 with 500 4bl and hooker headers at my school the lexus had more rwhp and rwtg it also revved up to about 7800
