Got an 89 2 WD 22r carbed. 4 SPD wanna put that engine in a 86 22 re 5 SPD 4x4 can I do it? What does it take? I'm a yota new bee. Will the tranny housing mount to the 22 r? Will I have to change flywheel? The 22 r has 78000 miles on it the 22 re efi has 230000. And this is why I'm changing out $$$$ issues.. Good motor in a 2 wheel. No good in a 4 x4. Am I at a loss or can I get out kinda cheap? I appreciate any help in this issue thanks.

These are the motors. Efi to carb . the 22 r is a strong runner right now. The efi is giving me problems after warming up it starts starving the motor for fuel???????? No cat .tps is unplugged. Runs great till warm though. No compression test either. I need help on this. Does the flywheel gotta change since its going in a 4 x4 5 SPD coming out of a 2 wheel 4 SPD?

Yes !!! you need to keep the flywheel and clutch from your 4x4

If you are keeping the Carb and not swapping over your EFI parts .

You need to get a fuel pressure regulator to reduce the pressure from the Higher pressures needed for EFI.

Other wise it will just push past the needle and seat and fill the cylinders with fuel.

I believe the camshaft is different between the 2 motors . You will also need to add the fuel pump lobe to the end of the cam ,so the fuel pump will work. It just bolts in .
